We are set to go on the West Coast Magic in about a month and this morning, I started gathering pirate costumes for the family (8 of us total with my parents). It occured to me that if it weren't for the DIS boards, I wouldn't have known anything about dressing as pirates for pirate night. (I haven't gotten my docs yet so maybe theres some info about it there?)

Now I'm curious about what percent of all the cruisers come prepared with pirate costumes. Just wondring if we will be in the minority, dressed in matching red and white stripe shirts, cut off pants, etc... I'm all for making a spectical of myself, but I'm not so sure my mom or my 15 year old son would appreciate being one of the "lucky" few who came prepared with silly costumes. hehehe

Lara,
Go for it. I do not know (nor care) how many will be dressed up (our cruise is in 20 DAYS YEAH!!! :cool1: :cool1:
But my DD11 will be dressed as Wendy, DD6 will be Tinkerbell, DW will be a BEAUTIFUL serving Wench, and I will be a Pirate. We are all looking forward to it, and if no one else is dressed up more than then the bandanas they get, so be it. I am sure the CM's will appreciate our efforts.

On our Western cruise in April, I only saw a couple of families dressed up for pirate night. Most were in "tropical" wear. They do give everybody red bandanas to put on your head at dinner. Even if there aren't a lot of "pirate" families, I say go for it! Disney is the place for imagination and fairytales, so have fun with it.

I say go for it....

I was on the REPO cruise in May and there were a lot of us dressed like pirates. We were asked by other passengers (the non-DisBoard, non-lanyard people) how we knew to bring pirate clothes as there was no information in the documents sent by Disney.

We even had a picture taken by the Shutters crew of all of the Dis'ers dressed like Pirates.

We just did the June 4th Mexcian cruise and we all dressed up - tattoos and all. We didn't see alot of others dressed up, but once you get to the dining room, all the servers are dressed and they give you bandanas that most people were putting on. So we never felt out of place and we really had a ball with it. Especially my DD2 who was saying AAARRRR to everyone she met! pirate:

We have some GREAT pictures of us dressed up with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee! I say go for it and have fun.

I say just go for it! My DH & I on our May 7, 2005 Western just wore tropical clothing, but for our May 20, 2006 cruise, I think we might invest in some pirate wear! It's SO much fun! pirate:
