We made ADRs for character breakfasts for 6 of the 7 days we're there and then dinner reservations for the restaurants we really wanted to go to (minus LeCellier as we weren't ABLE to get the ressies). With 3 kids under 4, we didn't want to risk having problems getting tables anywhere -- we need to keep them on a schedule as best as possible -- ADRs is the only way to be relatively sure that will happen!
But if was just myself and dh, we probably would have tried more walk-ups.....
We're on the DxDP for our next trip, so we've got 2 ADRs most days. When we are not on the dining plan, we still like at least 1 TS meal per day, so we would probably be in the 8-10 bucket when we're not on the DxDP.
We are also on the DxDP and I agree. We will make at least 2 ADRs per day, especially for dinner. I don't have to be so spontaneous that I have to choose where to eat on what night....I'd much rather have the security of knowing I am going to eat at a place that I've chosen ahead of time, and I'm probably going to get right in without a wait!
Look at it this way....you can always cancel an ADR, but as time gets closer it gets very hard to add ADRs at some of the more popular restaurants.
In Sept. 08 we had 2 TS almost everyday (Bfast and Dinner) and it was too much. I felt like we were always going to eat. This time we only have 1 per day,
(1 bfast and 6 dinners) and will fill in with snacks and CS. I hope this will work better for us
