How loud is the sail away party?

I have tinnitus (ringing in the ear) and I stay at the front of the ship during the sailaway party because it is much quieter. Before they blow the horn I put on my ear muffs (bought from a local hardware store) and ear plugs, which together do a better job for ear protection than just ear plugs. Also when they blow the horn when leaving ports, they will announce that they are going to do it, and I run for cover inside. I have to be very careful about protecting my hearing so my tinnitus doesn't get worse.

I can definitely tell you, that the sail-away-party on 10/11/03 will be very loud, because we are 105 DISers so far, who will meet there to have great time

Thanks for the insight. I think I will suggest ear plugs and ear covers for my DW. I however will be dancing with Mickey. : )

Even my 85 YO mother on the last trip enjoyed it, even though she doesn't like loud music.

Thanks for all the good information. We'll have to check out the head sets MickeyB426 mentioned. He does have some ear plugs we tried at school, and they just dont work for him. It seems like our best bet would be to be up on deck 10 overlooking the sail a way party, and cover his ears.

DH works in a power plant and they give them the earplugs that are kind of like foam and are very soft. You work them between your fingers before you put them in amd they sort of mold to your ear opening. They work really well at least for us in blocking out sound. Maybe you could find some of those. Maybe your local ENT office might have some suggestions for blocking some of the noise out.

I never really noticed how loud it was, too busy dancing and having a blast! The little soft ear plugs that mold to your ear would help block the noise quite a bit and then you could attend the party. Sailaway is so much fun I cant imagine not being there.
