Just wondering how loud both FITS (which will soon be replaced with Wishes) and Illuminations are...

My DD8 claims to hate fireworks and any type of fireworks show, but what she really doesn't like is the noise. For instance, she thought the fireworks were great from the BUS!!

She doesn't get scared just really annoyed, but I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to see both Wishes, the MNSSHP fireworks and Illuminations on our trip. Since it's just the two of us, it's either we both watch or neither of us watch.

Any help on the volume of these shows??

Thanks!!

They're loud. Have you considered earplugs to muffle the sound a bit?

The fireworks for FITS is not too bad, but I guess it depends on where you view them. We viewed them from the railroad station by the main gate and it wasn't too bad.

For Illuminations, the fireworks are LOUD, especially the finale. The fact that you are so close to the fireworks doesn't help either. However, I would highly recommend it. I saw the show about five years ago, and they totally redid the show. We were there last week and we liked the show so much, we saw it twice.

The show and the fireworks are amazing. Personally, I think it is the best show (even better than Fantasmic) and you don't have to worry about the rain cancelling the show since they have it rain or shine.

Just be careful where you view the show from cause if the wind is blowing in your direction, all the smoke will blow towards you.

:(

These can both be very loud. jayb5 is correct, depends on where you are. We love to watch FITS from Toontown - but that is also probably the loudest place! The beach at Polynesian would negate the noise issue completely. Probably hard to have a decent view of Illuminations and avoid the noise. I "feel your pain" because our DD had probs with fireworks for several years and we missed a lot of shows (not just Disney, but July 4, Stone Mountain, etc.). We never found any ear muffs, etc. that would help - so we just avoided the shows until she one day told us she wasn't afraid anymore. Out of the blue! She still gets a little nervous just before the show starts, but then she is fine.

Afraid my DD (almost 5) found the fireworks at Epcot way too loud too :-( She wanted to look at them but was desperately holding her hands over her ears to cut out the sound - with little effect.

My DD (6) cannot stand loud noises. She doesn't go to the fireworks with us on the 4th of July for that reason. We're always at DH's parents, so she stays home with Grandma.

Anyway, when we were at MK last year, we stayed for the Spectromagic parade and then tried to get out of there as quickly as possible, so she wouldn't get scared. We were by the train station on Main Street when they started and she immediately put her hands over her ears and wanted my husband to carry her. So, they are kind of loud. I didn't think they were bad as far away as we were, but she obviously did.

If your DD likes to watch them, maybe the ear plugs would work for her. Have her try them out at home by turning on the vaccum or the TV up loud, so she can see how much the sound is muffled. If she still refuses, I wouldn't push it, you'll both be miserable!! I know how frustrated you feel. I'm hoping our DD will grow out of this soon! Good luck!! :D
