How long?

DH and I are starting to consider buying in. How long does it typically take to go from offer accepted to transaction all done, able to plan a trip?

75 to 90 days, on average

We sent in an offer in early September. Closed at the end on November and received member number mid December so just around 90 days. It sometime depends on Disney's length of ROFR and the the closing company, paperwork on both sides. So there are many variables.

Offer made and accepted 1/30/2016, recieved member number and made first reservation on 5/2/2016, my closing was delayed a couple weeks because the sellers took a while to return closing docs, I believe my time frame is on the longer end, many have completed more quickly. Just have realistic expectations, because it's a grueling waiting game from beginning to end.

Thanks all! I was getting kind of excited thinking about buying and possibly going in the fall. The logical thing to do is take our time and focus on next year. Darn logic! Haha!

Yes, focus on next fall...this fall availability is very spotty even for the large resorts like Ssr. For mid September to the first week of January you need to book around the 11 month mark for the high demand resorts, and very close to exactly 7 months for the larger ones. Ideally would be to have found a contract by June so as to give yourself the 90+ day window. Good luck

Putting in an offer today, the best odds of a fall trip would still be to get a cash room, and have a lot of flexibility about when. Fall is crazy this year.
