i got a cricut and i've only used the alpahbets! I just got some disney carts -- how long will it take me to "learn" how to use them? is it super hard?

hmmmm is it Mickey, Pooh?? then not long
Princess are a pain

really it depends on how good you are with puzzles & how many small papers there are (eyes are a big pain) make them as big as possible that helps
Princess that are sitting are easier than standing since the eyes & hands are bigger in the sitting ones

you will have a black background that everything is glued onto (except a shadow if you choose to do it) put on the circut the black has alittle lines that don't go all the way thur that shows you where everything is glued down (think puzzle) which makes them easier than my stuff

Not long. Start with something simple, one with only a few cuts/ colors, start at the base. I like to work in order of the cuts in the book. More methodical that way. If they still have the sample project in the handbook do that and follow the instrcutions and you'll have them all down in no time. :)

Do a larger size figure to start with to get the hang of it, altho I started with a 3 or4 inch Mickey and Minnie and they turned out okay (they were my very first cricuit uses -- I got it for the Disney cartridges, but use others more now).

Look on Youtube for cricuit videos -- there are a lot of them that are very helpful about all sorts of things.

for the princesses, I cut a black for the background, but also a 'flesh' colored one which becomes the face and arms/hands, and I draw on the faces with a fine tip pen.

OMG ~ that is positively brilliant!!!!!!! I'll have to give it a try, I hate dealing with the faces and hands.

As others have said start with the Mickey and Friends or the Pooh and Friends carts. They have a lot fewer pieces and will give you a feel for putting the characters together.

I agree with making them as large as possible. I recently purchased the Toy Story cartridge and I have the smaller half size cricut. Forget About IT! I tried to cut Woody out multiple times, it's just too intricate. So hopefully you have the larger 12x12 cricut and it won't cause such problems. Start with Mickey and Pluto if you have them, and layout everything BEFORE you glue anything diwn just to make sure it looks right before you are stuck with it
