I am visiting CA from the UK in the summer and have a few Dis board buddies who I am meeting for dinner before they sail on the Disney Magic. DH and I will be at Six Flags Magic Mountain that day and need to drive to the port to meet them. According to live maps this will take an hour, but I am worried about traffic (Saturday afternoon). Realistically how long do you think this drive will take?
Thanks.

I would plan on the drive to be about 1hr to 1hr 30min.

You shouldn't really hit any traffic on the 405 Fwy between San Pedro and LAX. After that, you will find some traffic between LAX to the 10 Fwy due to constructions.

You should be okay for a few miles until you hit the Sepulveda Pass (a portion of the 405 fwy that connect West LA to the Sanfernando Valley) where you will likely find some slowing due to the uphill climb. Once you hit the top, it should be smooth sailing to Magic Mountain.

Thats great, thanks for the info.

I would stay away from the 405.........on any day...at any time....take the 5 south to 710 south....to the port...and give yourself at least 1.5 hrs....

I'd probably opt for taking the 5 Fwy south, connecting to the 110 Fwy south to your destination. Everyone in LA complains how the traffic keeps getting worse year after year, if hard to avoid any route you take.

I agree go with the 5 fwy!

Just me, but I'd take the 405 freeway south to the 110. I live near where the 405 & the 110 meet (Carson), and that's the route I've always taken. The 5 to the 110 is a longer route.

From the 110 take the Harbor Blvd (Vincent Thomas Bridge) offramp, then get in your right lane. Drive straight to get to the terminal, and turn right to go to Ports O' Call.

I'd agree with others. Take the 5fwy (which is where Six Flags Tragic Mountain is) to the 405 Freeway,

on a weekend the only traffic you'll see is right at the Sepulveda pass ( it's a uphill/downhill climb between the San Fernado Valley and the LA Basin)

then maybe a small pinch of traffic near the 10fwy and LAX airport) but on a saturday you might not have any.

plan for a 1 1/2 hr drive. (and give yourself time to find parking at the place your meeting them at)

cheers
