How long will it take me...........

..........to drive to WDW from Tampa International??? We will be arriving Friday July 29th (10:45 am landing time) and departing on Tuesday Aug 2nd (7:30 pm flight out of Tampa). The directions I got from AAA says the journey time will be 1 hour 20 minutes but I want to know how long it will REALLY take us! LOL! I am sure traffic, weather, etc will slow us down and I need to know how much time to give myself.

I'd sat AAA is pretty close. We live in Kissimmee and traveled to Tampa yesterday and it took us around an hour and a half. Coming to the Disney Area there is sometimes a bit of a slow down right around Highway 27 exit but its usually not too bad and only lasts a few miles. That also depends on the time of day. Yesterday we were on I-4 in that area around 11am leaving the Disney Area and the traffic traveling toward Disney was moving slow for a few miles. In the evening, on our way back to the Kissimmee area we had no traffic at all.

It all varies. Traffic in Central Florida changes day to day depending on who is broken down on the side of the road and whether people are slowing to watch them. Probably on average ferret is right, 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours (2 hours being worst case scenario.

Not sure how long from the airport but it takes me about 1 hour from Busch Gardens to Disney. Mind you...I usually drive about 75-80 when possible.

I'd agree with AAA. At that time of day, traffic should not be that much of an issue, unless there is an accident tying things up. If AAA has you taking I-275 to I-4, it shouldn't take you very long at all.

Thank you all for the information!! We are leaving in just a few hours and I CANNOT WAIT! My 3 nieces are asleep and I am still awake at 11 pm and on the DIS! Who is the real child here??
