How Long Were You In Line Today

Was in and out in about 10-15 minutes. Took my daughter with me to take in the Democratic process. She's only 21 months, so it was more like take in a bunch of strangers milling around.

She was great and even repeated "vote" while I was voting because I had told her a number of times where we were going. It came out like "wote", but it was so cute nonetheless!

I got there at 6:15am and the polls opened at 6. The line was at least 100 people long. It took about 45 mins from start to finish. Usually there's NEVER a wait. Everyone was upbeat and happy. It was great, I didnt even mind the wait!

to the PP from the UK... this is the biggest turnout by far. I don't think they were expecting the sheer number of people voting in this election. By the time they realized it was this big, it was too late to change things around.

It's not that there aren't enough polling stations, it's that the majority of voters come at three separate times. Before work, during lunch, or after work. Just think of it like a major highway going into a city and you get the picture.

If the cities and towns were to create more polling stations, it would be wasteful spending, just like it would be to create more highways to support traffic that's there only a few hours a day.

It seems our government does enough of that wasteful spending already ;).

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. No nightmares here like we've seen on the news.

I stopped by on my way home from work & got there around 2pm. It took me all of 5 minutes.

Got there when the polls open at 7 am. I waited 30 minutes. The poll worker said she had been working the same polling area for 15 years and had never seen a crowd like she did today. I am sure it will be long again when people get off work.

2.5 hours! I was driving by and saw maybe 40 people on line, so I pulled in and got on line, two hours later I am still standing there thinking what is wrong? Well......they let three people in at a time, first they scan your drivers license, then wait on line to get your forms. Get your forms, get on another line and wait for a booth. Okay, wait for one of three booths to open, fill out your forms, get on another line and wait for one scanner to scan your forms. I have never seen anything so dumb! Last presidential election they had about 20 machines at the same polling location....why would they dwindle it down to one????? :confused3 And then they wonder why Florida is called Floriduh!

I voted by mail 2 weeks ago. I passed 3 polling places on my way in to work this morning. Each seemed to have a line of 10-20 outside the door.

Went first thing this morning when the polls opened..waited 10 minutes which is long for us because we never waited before, except when we were living in a different town that only had one voting place.

Went at about 2pm and walked right in, voted, and walked back out. It probably took all of about 5 mins. And if I hadn't had to wait on the guy in front of me, it would have been less. Yay for having a night job! :goodvibes

I waited about half an hour at 11am, my parents went at 1:30pm and there wasn't anyone there! My dad thought they were in the wrong room. No wait for them. They are reporting heavy lines now though...CNN just said some places in Virginia have lines 3-5 hours long. :faint:

Yeah it was raining here too. Oh, yeah, that's right we both live in Virginia. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish. We almost had a riot because there were two lines. One for last names A to L the other for M to Z. When you got closer the lines were broken down for last names A to E, F to L, M to R and S to Z. This one lady was mad and upset that she had been in line since 6:00 a.m. and how was it fair that the people in the back of the line, go in before her, because their last name was not in the F to L. She was literally yelling at the lady who worked for the polls. She told the lady that there should just be one line and who cared about the alphabet. Well the people running the polling broke the check in sheets into four lines to help move things along faster. Most people were mad because there were a lot of Jones and Johnsons and Browns. Then there was just one line to submit your ballot and the same lady was mad she had to wait in yet anther line. I understood what she was saying but the poll people did the best they could. At least they moved us to the high school, instead of using the small church in the neighborhood that had no parking. I am sure this won't be the last "riot" story we hear today.

Congrats to all who survived their voting location.

Disneym2m, I'm in Chesterfield, too, but I was in and out in five minutes. Sorry you were almost caught in a riot! I'm surprised it took so long where you were.

I am in Baltimore and only waited about 10 min. I left work early and got there about 4:30PM.

On Halloween, I did early voting with Corey. We waited 5-1/2 hours to vote.

I walked up, signed, voted, and left. Five minutes from start to finish. That included walking from the parking lot.

I'm in Northern Virginia - voted at around 6PM and there was no line whatsoever

I just got back from voting. I'm from PA. I was expecting a line, but I walked right in and voted.
