How long until my friend gets a member referral gift?

Hi All. We settled in mid April and we have long time DVC members that are listed as the referral. They are going to Disney in October and were hoping to have their gift card for their trip. Anyone know how long it usually takes to get a gift card for a referral? Is there anything I can do to help speed up the process. I did confirm that they were listed as our referrals so I know that isn't it, just thinking this takes a long time. Any info appreciated!

Did you confirm on the member website that their state is one that can offer the referral rewards? Not all states can...

Also, the person should check with their own Guide to make sure the referral got listed under their account. Sometimes there is a mixup, or the communication does not go through. They should double check on their end just in case...

Thanks Carol. Their state is eligible so that is not it. Their guide is our guide too, so I guess I should just contact him or would it be better if they did it. They have received nothing indicating they are getting the referral and as I said we settled in April. I really want to help them get the referral prior to their trip. Kinda bummed I have to go chase it down. They have been in the system for us for over five years as we have taken that long to purchase. I really want them to get the referral. Our guide emailed me and had confirmed they were indeed the referral. They had to be in their anyways because we got the discount incentive with a DVC member referral.

Usually they would receive a certificate in the mail celebrating the referral prior to the cash reward.

It has happened to me that it was not completed for both parties. The person purchasing received the discount, but the Member was not listed for the referral award. You have a better chance with sharing the same Guide, but I would still check it out...

There should have been something by now if the closing was in April...

We reffered a family that was on-line with us at a ride...and we got our credit within 2 months or so...and we weren't even official members yet when we talked to them..we had just signed, but all the paperwork wasn't completed until some time after we were home.
First they notified us that the family had taken the tour and then they notified us that they had become members and gave us our choice of how to use our credit (btw, it's $200 for the first, $300 for the second, etc).
You friends should check their status on the dvcmember site and if it's not listed there, they should get on the phone ASAP..they should have gotten the credit a long time ago.

I just referred a family and my guide told me to go to the DVC website and look under "sharing the magic" and my reward would be there. I did that and it was there and then you get to choose what kind of reward you want. I chose the $200 gift card and they verified the address etc. They said I would receive it via registered mail requiring a signature and that it could take up to 6-8 weeks. The award notification was on the website within days of them signing their papers!! Hope this helps.

Where on the website did you look? I didn't see anything. We referred friends a few years ago and know they listed us as the referral, but we never received anything. I'm sure it is way too late now, but with a trip coming in October I thought maybe I should check into it.
