where PlayHouse Disney & Little Mermaid are? Can you cut through or do you have to go all the way back to the giant hat?

You don't have to go all the way to the hat. There is a little courtyard on the side that you can take that leads directly to the entrance "gates" of the Playhouse Disney area. So instead of going straight towards the hat, veer off to the right and follow the path through a little garden area, and you'll be there!

Great news - so it's a fairly short walk, say 5 minutes?

Maybe not five minutes. You still have to go down that street (Sunset Blvd?), but just before you get to the hub area, veer right and go through the courtyard area. So you still have to head back to the general area of the big hat, but you don't have to go all the to it, turn right, and over to Playhouse Disney. You can cut through the courtyard.

In math terms -- you would just walk the hypotenuse of the triangle, rather than the two legs that comprise the right angle. Does that make more sense?

Cut through the Starring Rolls/Brown Derby pathway. Shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes.

Anybody have the MGM map? Can someone tell me by letter how to cut through to get to Playhouse from RnR.

Just walk to the end of Sunset, and you will see a path to the right that goes around the Starring Rolls Bakery and Brown Derby. You will be walking right past the outdoor seating area for the Derby (close enough to steal a bite, LOL). You will end up right at the entrance to the Animation courtyard (the big arch with the Disney/MGM logo on it). Go through the entrance and Playhouse will be about 20 feet away on the right - you can't miss it.

Maps: http://www.mgmstudios.org/map.html

Basically follow Sunset Blvd. When you get to the Tip Board, walk "behind" it and you'll pass Starring Rolls bakey on your left. Go past that and you'll pass the Hollywood Brown Derby Restaurant on your left. Once you pass the Brown Derby, you'll see the MGM Arch and just pass under that and there you are.

LOL! Oh I knew that! That IS passing by Mickey's hat. I thought there was a short cut, short cut like behind Fairfax's. It would be nice to have an opening next to RnR to get over there though.
