I'm sorry as I am sure this question has been asked a thousand times. We are going middle of November and this will be our first time adding Universal to our vacation. I am planning on keeping the kids while Dh goes on the big rides. Will I have a problem keeping them occupied, we will probably split up in the morning meet for lunch then I'll probably take the kids back to the hotel for a nap and swimming before meeting up with him again in late afternoon. From what I have read it seems like there is more for kids in Universal, how long can I expect to keep the kids entertained in IOA.

For those that are feeling sorry for me having the kids by myself, I get a day at the outlet malls later in the week while he takes the kids back to seaworld for day 2.

You've got the right idea by splitting up from your husband.
I used to do that when my DD was 6.

Yes, the USF area has more to do and it's in the same area. Whereas with IOA, the rides and net crawl are on opposite sides of the park. If you goto IOA, get there early and do the rides first. One Fish Two Fish has a line of 1 hour in the afternoon, do this first.
There's enough to keep them busy the entire morning. Have a change of cloths because they'll get wet from the squirt guns. If kids are allowed to get wet, they'll stay in the net crawl for hours. Bring a long book to read. You can also take them into the Triceratops Encounter and the Discovery Center where they can play with more stuff.
