i have never used and travel agent since I usually just book myself. However I requested a quote at 6am yesterday from an agent that I heard about having great deals on rooms. No response yet. What is the normal time to get a quote? I figured it would be within 24 hours especially since I didn't request a specific agent.
I just want to have something booked!

We normally receive a quote 2-3 business days after making the request.

If it's the agency I used, I usually get a response within 24 hours. My TA is overseas this week so she had someone else filling in for her. During the school year, I did not hear back from her until evening time because she's a teacher and does the TA thing on the side.

Maybe try sending another email to the agency.

This is the first time I've ever used a TA because the price and availability in October at POFQ was better than anything I could have gotten with an AP and FL resident rate.

The TA I used on my current trip, always replied in a very timely manner, usually within 24 hours. But, when she went on vacation, she did email to let me know that and to tell me that there could be a delay in her response.

I thought my TA was taking forever the first time I requested a quote but that's because it went to my junk mail.

Thanks everyone
I was hoping it would be closer to the 24hr mark. I have been checking my inbox and junk mail and still nothing. I will try again tomorrow morning if I don't hear anything.

If it's the agency I think it is, you can always call the main number or even contact them via FB and someone will get back to you soon. If you put in a request through their website, the owner will, most likely, send that request on to another TA, so it could take between 24-48 hours to get a quote. If you don't hear soon, I would call or go through FB.

I would just look into self booking if you haven't heard anything in 24 hours. It's really easy on the phone but you do lose out on them trying to get any food or other reservations. ( we do that ourselves but it does take effort).

Im a TA and would get back to you within an hour...especially for a Disney trip :) My favorite to book!

I think the OP is waiting for a quote from an agency that deals with deeply discounted group bookings which are not available to TA's outside these types of agencies.

Sure they are! All depends on the TA. I give up my commissions, by reducing the price by what I would make on commission (basically the same as the magical deal). I'll keep a very small amount. But a very small amount times lots of customers is better than a large amount times one or two customers. Then those lots of customers come back to you for other vacations, and recommend you! You just have to find the right TA :)

I tried to contact one and the replied back a month later and told me there server was down, by then I had already booked through disney. I like that because I can make any changes myself and not have a mile man. A friend used one and had lots of trouble, I asked if they had made dining and fastpasses yet and the TA hasnt. I told him good luck getting any good rides and dining and to fire her.

Just because someone books through a TA doesnt mean they cant control their vacation. I set up MDE for my clients, if they dont have it already, and them links to menus, dates when they should book dining/fastpasses/magic band customization etc... If they want me to do it for them, thats more than fine, but they can certainly do it themselves on MDE just like anyone who may have booked directly through Disney. The ONLY difference is TAs could give a better price (and a dumb TA would give a higher price) and the client has to make payments to the TA.

The max 10% commission you are receiving from Disney still can't compete with an agency group discount.

10% is the commission. You did not factor in the group rates my agency gets (and most agencies, including host agencies for independant TAs). But, thanks for asking :)

But as the PP mentioned, a client cannot make changes or payments to their reservation. So, for example, if they want to change their ticket options, add a dining plan, change dates, resorts, or even cancel out the reservation, etc., they have to go through the TA. I believe that is what the PP meant when he mentioned the ability to control the reservation.

I called a few TA and my quote was less for doing it myself. I am just an A type and want to have complete control of my bookings, if I used a TA and something didn't go right they would be the first I blamed. It is just better, if I can't book something then it is on me.
