I have friends who are going to have breakfast at Cape May on december 17 (so probably a busy time) at 10:10. Will they make it to their fast pass time at MK for BTMRR at 12:25 ( so they would have until 1:25 to use it). It is their first time at WDW (and first day) so they won't be familiar with anything.

I would bet that they would make their FP+. ADR at 10:10, seated 10:30, done 11:30, there is still an hour to catch the bus from BC to MK for the start of their FP+ window. Unless they are really slow eaters or walkers or can't find the (labeled) bus stop...

Under normal circumstances, yes. As late as last week I had no problems consistently getting to MK in under an hour via the bus.

However, we preferred walking through Epcot and taking the monorail to avoid having to fold up our stroller.

If they are concerned about timing they can take a cab. They can catch a cab at the front of the resort and tell the driver they are going to MK and want to be dropped off at Contemporary as close to MK as possible and they'll usually drop you off at the Contemporary guard gate which is about a 5 minute walk from MK entrance. You can also take a bus (say a 15 minute ride) but the catch is having to wait for one.

Since they have until 1:25 to use they should have plenty of time to get there during that window even taking a bus.

Have they thought about trying to book a breakfast near the park as opposed to Cape May? Cape May probably has a better breakfast than say Chef Mickey but Chef Mickey or Polynesian character breakfasts would be much more convenient to the park. I've had friends who sort of just wing it and didn't realize how much travel time can be involved getting to meals that aren't close to the park of choice for the day. Of course, if they ARE staying at Beach Club then they won't have any problems getting to the breakfast. And another thing they might want to consider first day (depending on their goals) is canceling the breakfast in favor of getting to the park at rope drop. If there's any advice I could give anyone going to Disney it would be rope drop at every park.

They say to plan an hour. so even at that they should be perfectly fine. We had long waits for the first bus of the morning during thanksgiving week, but the ride itself isnt long at all.

They should have a nice breakfast and plenty of time to use the fastpass no worries.

The last week of October we waited about 10 minutes for a MK bus. Once loaded I timed the trip.
It was 12 minutes to the WDW archway and 17 minutes to the MK bus stop.
They should be okay.

I think that should be fine. When we stayed at BC most of the time the ride was around 25 minutes it seemed. So giving say an hour or so to eat an hour with wait plus ride and then walking across the park they should be fine with that window.

The general rule of thumb is to allow about 45 minutes to get anywhere using Disney transportation. To be safe, I'd allow about an hour. I've only had it take an hour to get from one of the Epcot resorts to the MK once, but that was because the bus didn't come for a while (I think there might have been an issue because the CM at the bus stop kept asking when the bus would come and they were told within 5 minutes for about 20 minutes), then the bus made multiple stops and it took almost 20 minutes at one stop to get all of the ECVs loaded. So all in all, it took about an hour to get to the MK. Otherwise, it usually only takes about 30 minutes or so. Still, I'd allow an hour to be safe.

For dining, I tend to allow between 60-90 minutes for a resort TS meal. At a buffet you can go as fast or slow as you'd like, but I'd still budget about 90 minutes to be safe.

So overall, unless there are major issues, I'd guess they should get into MK before the FP+ window expires.

Alternatively, as a PP mentioned, if they're running late or feeling like they're running late, they can always take at taxi to the CR and then walk to MK. It'll run about $20-$25 plus tip.

I think that's a bit on the high side. We took a cab to Grand Floridian from the Beach Club, then back later that night and both fares were under $17, with tip came to $20.

Sorry, all I am going off of is what it cost last Thursday. :confused3

It could be based on the route the driver took, how much traffic there was, etc. Lots of things affect taxi fares, so it's probably safe to way that it would cost somewhere between $17 and $25 plus tip.
