Just wondering how long it took most of you to decide to take the plunge and purchase points in the DVC! We sign at the presentation, which is unusual for us as we like to think things over for awhile!

I'm not sure how to vote. We toured in 1995, but decided not to buy. We were at The Poly in Feb of '02, and decided to buy the night BEFORE our second sales presentation (in Feb'02). I guess that would put me seven years after the presentation?

I took eight or nine years for various reasons--better late than never! But those free park passes would have been great on those trips in between....

OKW and BWV where the only properties for sale at the time. How long does it take to say "Einie meannie minnie moe....". We never even took the tour.

Never took presentation!!I just thought they had to cost well into the 1/2 million range or more and you had to be Bill Gates or close to buy in. After all a time share at WDW??That is why it took me until 95 to buyin, they never advertised the price. I wish they had and I would have bought in earlier.

Hmmm... that's hard to answer. We had decided to buy before we went to a presentation (actually, we never attended a presentation!).

But from the time we knew we were going to buy until the actual purchase was about 1-2 years.

no presentation for us either.
we got the majority of the needed info from these boards!
it took us approx 1 month of number crunching and research before we decided to buy.
and then 2 weeks later, we made an offer (resale)... and the rest is history.

No category for us. I guess you could ask how long it took Disney to answer our dream of some sort of timeshare. We bought in 1991, never saw a presentation, never saw the buildings, just some artist's sketches. We were waiting for this for a long time.

After so many "typical" timeshare pitches we went to the DVC presentation on a whim...we had some time to kill...the whole time with a "We are NOT going to buy this, no matter what" attitude. After seeing the presentation, and having our questions answered in a professional manner, we left as owners. :)

We also bought sight unseen, never taking a tour.

But I marked "two years" because we stayed at WL and loved it, and two years later were going to stay again but stumbled across DVC and realized that it made a lot of sense.

Once we looked into it (ie, read these boards!), it only took a couple of months.

Purchased in June 1993 right at the presentation. That's when we got the free passes into the theme parks as a sales perk.

Kept asking myself what's wrong with this picture? Couldn't find a thing.

About 2-hours after purchasing, we were checking into a 1-B/R unit at OKW resort. (Then called Disney Vacation Club).

Never regretted purchasing on the spot and wished I had purchased earlier, in 1991 :p

No tour here, either. Thought about DVC for years, but figured it was not something we could afford. (We didn't go to WDW very often in the "old days.") After I retired, DH told me he didn't care how often I went to WDW. :) After I started spending money on hotel after hotel, I gave DVC a serious look, and it made sense for me to join. :D

Too long!! We looked into DVC in late 2000 early 2001 but just couldnt see spending the money. Then after mulling it over, I reintroduced the idea to my DW, convincing her that with some weekend hrs I could pay for it and still have enough left for our trips.
After much convincing ( and tying her up in the closet, just kidding! ) we decided to buy sight unseen. We never took the tour, never even seen a DVC resort, never talked to a CM about it. We purchased in Dec 01 and signed papers in Jan 02. So a little over a yr. Now that we are members, I cant get my DW off these Dis boards. I am so proud of her!!

I first looked at DVC in June 1997. I purchased in March 2002. I like to think things through. I wish I did it in 1997!!!!

Because of the whole timeshare "stigma" we avoided the DVC booth for years. With time to burn, we decided to look. Tried to find something bad, but couldn't. Came home researched these boards and bought within a week.

You didn't have "BEFORE the sales Presentation" as an option.

My DW and I rented points at OKW in Jan 2002 and we had got the DVC video already and found all the answers to our questions we had here before going on the trip.

I was conviced and knew I wanted to join, but DW was unsure untill we checked in at OKW and she saw the resort. And by Wednesday, when we had our sales tour scheduled, we had both fallen in love with being on site and knew DVC was for us.

So the Sales tour was very easy for our sales person. we did put down our deposit AT the presentaiton so I choose that option.

BUT we had DECIDED before that :TEETH:

We stayed at WL for our 25th anniversary, and went on the sales presentation for fun. We knew we wanted to do it, but we really didn't want to make the decision while on vacation. However, the MB for Vero had some stipulation that we needed to put a deposit down while we were there. So, we wrote the check and signed the papers in October of 2000, and have never been sorry.

Since then, we've done a 100 point add-on at VWL (finally staying there this summer), and plan to do another addon at BCV.

DVC is a WONDERFUL thing!!!

I decided that I wanted to join the first day that I knew about DVC! Now, purchasing is a whole different story

Hopefully, we'll find a good resale soon in the range that we are lookin' in. I can't wait to hear...Welcome Home! :bounce:
