Yeah me too, but I do it for less time, I think it's under 10 minutes. It depends on how soft you want it to be. I just check it and when it gets to how we like it, it is done.
You can eat it raw all the way to soggy so it depends how you like it. The Barefoot Contesa says to cook it 2-4 minutes with high heat in half olive oil half butter with a little sea salt. Get the pan nice and hot first. I like it that way but I cook it a little longer, maybe 6 minutes.
mmmmm .... these all sound so yummy! Bought asparagus this morning and might have to try one of these ideas.... I generally put it in the microwave coevered with a little water for about 2 minutes. Then add butter for the rest of the family. We like ours more on the al dente side.
Asparagus is one of those veggies which i simply cannot eat steamed or boiled. It makes the vegetable bitter and disgusting! I like the roasting idea, above. We also saute the asparagus on a grill pan, with a little olive oil and garlic salt.
