Sorry I tried a search but didn't come up with anything. I just wondered how long it took from landing to collecting your car to get out of MCO. I understand everyone will have slightly different experiences but if I collect a few, maybe I can work to an average. We are renting from Dollar BTW.
Thanks for your help,
Claire

It would depend on a lot of things. Time of day, airline, weather, etc.

Luggage usually comes quickly at MCO but there are time that I have waited awhile.

I would say to do all that you are planning to allow at least 1 hour.

You might want to ask on the UK board; Immigration is going to be your worst delay, I suspect, and not too many of us Americans are going to be able to advise you on that.

NotUrsala brings up a good point. Not having dealt with customs on this end, I would say 30 minutes to get your bags.
If you are picking up your car at the airport, probably add another 30 minutes. Customs...that's an unknown for me in Orlando.:D

The thing about Immigration and Customs that makes a huge time difference for people incoming on foreign flights is that they don't get their bags the same way that the rest of us do; they have to wait for them twice. You go through Immigration, then claim your bags, then go through Customs, then surrender your bags before getting on the monorail, then claim them again in the main terminal.

I don't know if you are allowed the option to keep your bags after Customs and carry them yourself to the monorail; I do know that there are no trolleys available to be taken onto the monorail, so you would have to be able to carry the bags without help if it *is* allowed; that would mean packing fairly light.

WE were there at mco on sep 07 after hurricane, our flight only leaves at 17h30, but we were at the mco around 13h00 . but guess what, we were only in the gate at 17h00 !!!
long line wait of using those check in screen..,
and one of our two baggage was 58 pounds, the other one only weight 20 pound. (two adult were travelling). US airway told us that we had to take off 8 pounds from that baggage to move it to the second one, i thought this is not nice to do when my original flight was cancelled due to hurricane , when there was already a long line up. it is only 8 pounds, and i just don't see any big different to move the 8 pound to another bag. they said if i don't want to move the 8 pounds, they will charge us 25$ .
once we finished unpacking and packing for that 8 pounds, we went to the security check. again, they had to open up all my carry on.... (but we are ok about this).
then we were finally there.

and for the clear off, it is pretty fast i remember, but that was before hurricane frances. just wait for 5 min, that's it. remember, i am canadian citizen
