How long to be waitlisted for Points at "sold-out" resorts?

Ok - we got put on a waitlist today to purchase from DVC 210 points for the VWL - just out of curiosity for those that have done this before - how long before you got the call that you could buy? I mean are we talking months or typically a week or so?

Sorry I have no answer for you, but I was surprised to read this. Last I heard, Disney had an inventory of VWL. I didn't know there was now a waiting list. We are currently waiting for our resale contract for VWL to pass ROFR. I wonder whether the fact that there is now a waiting list will affect our chances to pass.

because a few weeks ago when we talked to them they did have points available for several months (I think April-June and August). So it could just be a matter of matching those folks that have put in a request before us with the month they want prior to talking with us. They did make it sound like it wasn't going to be that long......but who knows.

I do hope it doesn't affect others going through resale.....

They are currently redoing their contracts to include the new closing cost at SSR. This is a legal issue and as such they are not currently releasing any points for any resorts. This is will take a few days. I also requested 150 new points at BWV and was told they had over 1400 available. Then the next day I asked and they said that they had this issue to work past. I have been waiting for a week now. This is only what I have been told by 2 people at DVC.

Makes sense - they apparently are charging SSR folks closing costs. We reiterated 3 times that we aren't getting charged any closing costs because we are going for VWL - and were reassured we weren't. Apparently, for the same 210 points if going through SSR we were going to have to pay around 400 in closing costs.

My credit card was charged this AM for the deposit, so I know I've got points coming. Not sure how many yet since I was willing to accept a smaller contract. I got 50 at BWV last month and waiting for 70 more. Looks like things are indeed moving at MS over the last couple of days. Mine is an addon, so no closing costs involved.

Just got another 30 point contract at BWV/April UY. Waited 5 weeks for this one. Still waiting for another 40 points, same UY.

I added on 50 points at BWV last month (June 23rd) and all is complete now. I just paid my dues via the website yesterday, so it took one month. Since it was an add-on, my points were available immediately on the website, so I actually knew before my guide called me. I'll be watching the website today to see how many more points I just got. I think one of the issue on waiting may be in regard to financing. I did not need financing through Disney.
