Just wanted to say I called DVC this morning to be added on to their wait list for points at BWV (I assumed there would be a wait due to the info I have read on this thread ) and I got my points there and then

I am a new member and as I thought they were sold out I thought I would have to wait I never assumed I would get points straight away. I was totally shocked when I was offered 150 April UY points there and then. I didn't want to miss out so I snapped them up.

I am not complaining but confused as to why I did not have to wait

OMG I can not believe it I have just bought in...........I am soooo excited !!

Just wanted to let everyone know that my guide said he had around 300 BWV points avalible for April and about 150 for June so if anyone is waitlisting for them hopefully they will be coming your way !!!

Congratulations Sarah and Welcome Home!!

The reason some of us had to wait is beacuse of the use year. If you already have DVC points and want to add on through Disney for less than 150 points, the new points need to be the same year as your existing points (regardless of whether you are purchasing at the same resort you already have or not). So in my case for example, it took 3 months for February use year points to become available. That's great news about April and June for new purchasers or anyone with those use years though!

[To clarifiy, I had forgotten to update the info listed on senecabeach's chart -- I started waiting for two separate 40 points contracts on April 25, but I called my guide about a month later and added two more 40 points contracts to the waitlist.]

We got our BCV points last month after a little more than 3 1/2 months. But we were ANY use year. Look back on this post for dates around the September 20-25th range. A lot of folks got thier BCV points then.

In my experiences...now,remember, this was last year (2005).... I have found it very difficult to "pin down" the exact methodology used by Disney for point allocation. There is no rhyme or reason.
This is even after talking directly to the "manager" of the guides. My guide is "great" and has been with DVC for 15 yrs. and here's how both he and his manager explained it to me:

Lets say there are 3 people waiting in this priority order, same UY:
1 wants 50
2 wants 100
3 wants 125

125 pts. become available (of course in the same UY).
Disney has the option of giving ALL the pts. to #3, or, breaking up the pts. between #1 & #2 ...and yes... someone else will still be waiting for 25 pts....that's why they won't tell you what # you are on the list.

I would assume that there is a direct correlation between..when Disney exercises ROFR vs. amt of people, length of time on the wait list....just an assumption remember.

I don't know if this has changed, maybe it has because of ALL the complaints. I would also suggest to all of you waiting that:... you get on the TSS list too!! It was a suggestion, last year, made to me.... I did that, though Disney came through first.

For those of you who dont know me... I went on the list 1/4/05 for 100 pts. I waited 11 mos.7 days and got 70 pts., then 4 weeks later got the other 30pts.
