If you added on and received the $500 Disney Visa Rewards card, how long did it take until you received the reward? Was it at closing, or when you signed and returned the papers, or was it weeks after that?

You don't actually get the card, you get the reward points. I believe you get the 500 points 2 months after purchase is finalized.

I believe the fine print said it would be 2-3 billing cycles before the bonus rewards would be added.

Well so much for getting it before my December vacation! :(

Guess I'll have to use it for the July vacation! :thumbsup2

Thanks you guys!

Was/is it actually possible to get the 500 Disney Dream Reward Dollars for doing an 'add on' Amy? The email we received from Disney VISA explicitly states, "For a limited time, get a bonus of 500 Disney Dream Reward Dollars with the purchase of a new Disney Vacation Club Membership". Thanks for the info.

We qualified for this. We added on 200 Dec UY points (not our current UY) and received 2006 points (banked), 2007 points and 270 developer points. We will also receive the $500 incentive. The 670 points with no dues (maybe a little for 2007 allocation) was too good to pass up. If you value the points at $10, the incentives get you to $58 pp. Additional credit card incentives actually bring this even lower. They also let us split the 200 into two 100 point contracts (I thought they might require at least 160 + 40.

This is exactly what I want to do!!! I didn't think I could because none of our contracts have a Dec. UY either. Did it take some convincing on your part when you spoke with your guide...or was it an easy transaction? Also, I'm assuming you just did this add-on over the last day or so. Do you know when the transaction will be complete as the person I spoke with @ Chase indicated it had to be a done deal by 11/30 to receive the 500 bonus rewards. I wasn't sure if I had enough time!

We did an add-on with the same UY but had it set up as a different member number since the points are for my mom. Since it has just me and my mom on the contract (as opposed to our other contracts that are me and DH) it counted for the $500 reward.

What was nice is since I am already a member Disney did not make us pay closing costs either as I thought they would since it is a new member number. They also let us split it into two contracts - 100 and 150 and di not make us do a 160 and 90.

Did they make you go through the application process again, since you had a new member# and person on the contract with you? Or did they allow you to treat it as just a regular add on as if it was you and DH adding on?

Not to sound stupid (and I probably do) but what application process? I don't ever remember filling out any application, just signing by the mouse ears and dating by the palm trees.

Our guide said it was no problem qualifying for the $500 as long we made our deposit in time (you do need an active card as of 9/1/7 and a offer code from chase visa which we had to call to get as we did not have a recent statement). We just did this on Saturday. The only thing our guide needed to check was the 100/100 split on the new use year. I expected they would require 160 minimum for one but he said no problem with 100/100. Also, no problem banking the 2006 points with only a month left. It's a really good deal if you can swing it.

Did they make you fill out a new credit application and get approved again? I thought maybe they'd treat you as a brand new member since the new contract would have a different member name than what you already have with DVC (you and DH).

Just a thought for the previous poster. When you bought into DVC there may have been an application but now its basically a credit check (credit score) like most other credit/loan offers. Its virtually instantaneous and eliminates any form filling (signing) until your contract arrives.

only get the 500 reward points for new membership and not an add-on even if the add-on is for a new "home" resort?

Oh, I see what you mean...no we have never filled one out so I do not know if they make you if you do a new membership (meaning with a new member number and all that).

It appears add-ons qualify too as long as you purchase at least 160 pts.

What do you have to do to get this $500 reward card? My DH & I will be new to DVC with a 250 point purchase. I believe we qualify for the rewards card as we'll put the downpayment on our Visa card. Is there something I have to do before signing the contract?

ETA: I called the number on my Disney Visa statement and was given the number to call. I'm all set.

Can anyone verify this? The language of the offer presented on mousesavers said that add-ons by existing members don't qualify for the $500 bonus. If the restriction is true, are people getting around it by setting up the contract under a new member number?

We purchased DVC at the end of Sept, our settlement was scheduled Nov 11?, anyway we had our 500 rewards points on our statement at the end of October. Can't wait to spend it!:goodvibes
