Hi board, thanks for all your previous help.

I can't tell you how grateful I am to this board. I have learned so much. We are staying on-site and we have opted not to do the dinning plan.

We will be going in Aug to WDW for our first family vacation-dm, db and myself- all adults

our dates: aug Fri 12-Sun 21 that's 10 days
Now I am wondering if this is too long and perhaps I should make it a 9 day trip instead?

the problem: my brother works night so I figure our first day there-Friday we won't go to the parks. It will be a day that he could adjust to being awake during the daytime.

any suggestions?

This is a good amount of time to take the parks at a leisurely pace and not go "comando". We usually stay 8 days 7 nights and feel we really get to see the parks, go back to our favourite ones a few times to do those must do rides.

Some ppl may get "parked out" but you can break that up with trips to DTD for shopping or eating in resort hotels instead of in the park. Take advantage of the resort pool or go to GF for a spa treatment. There is plenty to do onsite (paddle boats and bike rentals etc) and each of the different hotels.
Where are you staying? I'm sure ppl will have advice as to what things there are to do specifically at your hotel.

Have fun on your very first trip!!!!!!

10 days is a good visit. You have some time to stop for breaks by the pool or go shopping and not feel like you must hit the parks every minute so you dont miss anything.

I think for a first trip 10 days is wonderful :) Like others have said you will not have to go commando and you will be able to enjoy all that the world has to offer (Water Parks, DTD, maybe a spa treatment, water activities, etc)! Plus it will be hot in August so you can go back to your resort and rest in the afternoon. I hope you have a wonderful trip :)

Thanks
We are planning to stay at CBR. I was even considering 7 or 8 days but I think 10 days it will be. I think you are right about the weather it's most likely going to slow us down.

Even if we don't hit the parks I think we would enjoy just hanging out at CBR

We are staying 10 days if a get a code. Fewer if we don't get a code. Less money for disney if we are not there the extra 5 nights. They lose more because of tickets and food. We are going to be a total of 11 people in 3 rooms. A grand gathering and growing. Come on codes. I"ve got too many people counting on me to get a cheaper rate so we won't have to go commanddo.

We stayed for 7 days the first time and every year since then 10 days. We learned 7 is not enough.

We stayed 8 nights our first trip and are only doing 7 our upcoming trip (I just don't want to take my dd out of high school for too long). If I were you I would go 10.

BTW- Just had to say HI  My name is Lorelei!! Not the exact same spelling, but pretty close! There aren't many of us around!

Our first trip we stayed 7 nights - definitely not enough, the next year we stayed 11 nights, this year we're staying 17 nights. Can you tell we can't get enough of Disney!

we usually do 14 nights and that is never long enough! I think the longer you can stay the more relaxing your vacation will be

This Aug DS13 & I are staying 14 nights! 5 at Pop, 3 at WL and 6 at BCV
Originally we were booked for the last 9 nights but I had another 3 vacation days for 2005 so I HAD too add them at the beginning of our vacation, right!

I mean when else can I take DS to WDW for 2wks - not when he's in school
DH is staying home so DS & I can plan whatever we want
We're not adding on another flight

The longer the better. We are there 16 days in May (Apr.29-May 14) @ Pop. We rarely do a trip shorter than 8 day. We were in WDW 45 days last year and it never seems long enough for us. We like to keep our trips at a slow pace--of course we are AP holders, so zipping to the parks just to eat is something we do alot.

I wouldn't change a thing. Last trip we stayed 9 nights and this year we are staying 12. The longer the better IMHO.

Remember, in August it will be hot and crowded. Don't think you will get through everything quickly. You will probably need to take breaks during the day, either back to your room, or some place air conditioned.

You will be amazed at how much there is to do at WDW. Take your time in the parks, shop , etc. 10 days is great so, enjoy. The water parks, downtown Disney and just an afternoon by the pool.
