How long should I wait??

A few years ago, I was getting IV treatment daily in the doctor's office for about a week. Usually I saw a PA or a nurse, but one day the appointment was with the actual physician.

I was in the exam room for two hours before she saw me. When she finally made it, and I expressed my displeasure, it seems she (a) had to do physicals on three patients from a group home [anybody see a scheduling problem here?]; (b) got 'stuck' with a sales rep; and (c) because she was planning to move into new office space, left the office with the real estate agent to go look at the new site - all while I waited!

I started looking for a new PCP. Around the same time, I got a mailer about a new practice with two physicians and maybe a dozen nurse practitioners. When I called around to various hospitals for suggestions, two mentioned this same place. I figured, what the heck. I switched. The hours are (much) better; it's easier to get an appointment - I called this (well, Thursday) morning and got an appointment later the same day; and no, you're not left sitting alone in the exam room for extraordinary periods of time.

Because of my schedule, I will always make my appointment for the first appointment of the day. I am shocked how long I have to wait many times. I think if they are keeping me waiting 30-45 minutes in the exam room and I am the first appointment of the day, how backed up are they by the end of the day.

My dentist is the only person who never keeps me waiting. Bless his heart, if I have an 8am appointment, I am in the chair at 8am sharp!
