How long should I wait for Ebay seller to respond?

I'm in a "what would you do?" situation. Bought a book from a seller on Ebay Half. Book was $30 Shipping $3.50 media mail. Turns out seller stuck a media mail label on a USPS priority envelope and shipped it to me that way, causing me to have to pick up the book at the post office for an additional 11.50 cost! I paid it because DD needs the book for a class, and emailed the seller on Friday requesting a refund of the $11.50. Haven't heard from him. How long do I wait for a response? Do I go through PayPal? Give him negative feedback? WWYD?

I guess since it was a weekend period, I might wait a couple more days, but in the meantime would be searching to see how the site handles such issues and whether they have a mechanism to deal with it. If the site does have some dispute resolution method, I would send one more email later this week advising the seller I was going to file a complaint (or whatever the company calls it) with the site on say Friday unless I hear from them before that.

If you end up not getting a refund, I would definitely then leave bad feedback. By then you gave them a chance to resolve it themselves and tried any company resolution method.

Did you initially pay by credit card? If so, could you dispute the original charge with the credit card company?

I would wait 1 business day then open a case through the original site. One the case is open the buyer usually has a few more days to provide a solution. I don't usually leave negative feedback until after I see how the resolution goes.

I think I would email the seller again and tell them if you are not refunded the extra postage you will contact the USPS to let them know their free Priority envelopes are being used by this seller for Media Mail items. Google USPS Priority Box misuse....one article mentions that Priority boxes are always the property of the USPS and can not even be "reused" He could actually face jail time if he does this intentionally because the Priority boxes are free.

contact the USPS to let them know their free Priority envelopes are being used by this seller for Media Mail items.
They already know this since they made the OP pay the difference between Priority & Media Mail.

If you haven't heard from the seller by this afternoon, I would open a dispute on Ebay. Hopefully you got a receipt from the post office so you have proof that you paid the difference. Without proof I don't know how far you'll get though. :(

Good luck.

Yes, I would open a report/case with eBay if the seller does not respond.

This sounds like someone who does eBay full time, and they must know better. I would be more lenient if it was just a private person making a mistake.

Agree with the others. Contact the seller 1 more time. Give a set amount of time (maybe 24 hrs?)for a resolution. then open a case in the resolution center.

I sold an item , weighed it carefully, shipped it, and the buyer still received it postage due (like $1 or something.) I was horrified!:scared1: Guess my scale was wrong. I immediately refunded the amount no questions asked. That's what should happen. The seller should know better than to use a priority box for something other than priority shipping.
