How long of a ride is Carousel of Progress?

Let me first say, I love it. It is one of my favorites. I grew up to it and it is very dear to me. That being said, it's about 25 minutes, but if you've never gone on it before and you are excited to go on other rides, it feels like an hour.

:offtopic:I went on it for the first time on our last trip and loved it. I think it has something to do with the nastalgia of it being so old. I love the thought of it being part of the World's Fair.

I just read about how they "revamped" the last scene in 1981, and had to laugh. Like I said, it was my first time seeing it, and ever since I have joked about how the last scene looked like it was done in the 80's but also like they threw in a couple of modern items to keep it updated. I had the worst time trying to figure out what year they wanted it to look like. The clothes look like 80's, but the flatscreen looks more modern. Very funny to me.

I enjoyed it though. So did my mom, but only because she got to take a nap.

Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Now is the best time of your life.
Life is a prize, live every minute.
Open your eyes and watch how you win it!
Yesterday's memories may sparkle and gleam,
tomorrow is still but a dream.
Right here and now,
you've got it made.
The world's forward marching and you're in the parade!
Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Be it a time of joy or strife.
There's so much to cheer for, be glad you're here.
For it's the best time of your life.

It is still my favorite version, and love when I here the music in the Tomorrowland background loop

That's it!! Boy was mine a bad karoke moment! LOL

It's MY favorite version too!

You do know that this version was to get you to go out and buy GE appliances.

I only bring this up because some times people want this "original" version of the music brought back. When it fact the current version is the original version. Just thought I would bring it up before someone else did.

My granny always made everyone she went to WDW with go to the CoP. It's silly but next time I go I will continue the tradition for her.

I make everyone go on it every time we're there too! hahaha it's great and everyone always gets a laugh out of it! :rotfl: I hope they never get rid of it!

Wow..I was gonna respond 5-10 minutes. I never realized I was in there so long! COP is one of my favorite attractions (don't ask me why!).

I didn't realize it was that long either!! My family and I stumbled upon it a couple trips ago wondering why we had never ridden it before literally having no idea what it was! We thought it was hilarious and a great break (Dad naps hahah) and now it's a tradition! Definitely one of my favorite attractions too. ::yes::

1) CoP is 20-minutes and 45-seconds.

Too long and claustrophobic when it is stuck....especially when you have to pee!
Love it though.

I won't ride it anymore for that reason. I hate the feeling of being stuck and not being able to get out of the darn thing.

So was the original/current version. It was the GE pavilion at the 64 worlds fair. So both songs were intended to get you to keep the workers at Appliance Park in Louisville busy making refrigerators

From my limited research, the second song was specifically written to get you to buy now, not tomorrow.

Now I see what you are trying to say, The original was to get you thinking about getting a GE Dishwasher, tomorrow. While the remake was even more desperate, by telling you to leave the park and drive right over to Appliance Direct, where they Love Appliances. On your way home :duck: ;)

It was all part of GE's marketing at the time, they wanted somthing more forceful. I think those of us that got our original experence with "The Best Time of Your Life" just feel more at home with that version. Its really no different than "Spectromagic vs. MSEP. The one you grew up on is the "right" one.

But I like them both, but I will always think of Grandpa and I visiting in 1984 and Singing "The Best Time of Your life" all the way back to Michigan

1) OMG !
2) I remember singing the song on the plane back from the 1964 World's Fair!
