I am up for a job which is about an hour away, doing something I enjoy, at a decent raise from what I now make. DH thinks its ridiculous for me to drive so far to work.

So, in asking, I want to know how far you drive, and also if it is worth it to you. I'd like to be able to tell him, "See, lots of people have a long commute!"

Of course I'd love it if this job were down the street, but such is not the case!

Only about 20 minutes for me. But, I would drive farther to do what I love and make more money :)

One hour and ten minutes. Every day.

Try books on tape :)

6 minutes.
But I work with people who do 30 - 1 hr commutes one way daily.
There's also a woman who does a 1.5 hr commute one way each day - she's a VP so I'm sure she makes some good money.

About 40 mins each way. Yes, to me it's worth it.::yes::

about 30 seconds...from my bedroom to my living room:teeth: Had to say it sorry!!! Both of my sisters drive 45min to 1 hr. each way to their work! Ofcourse where they live there isn't much to choose from!!

Sorry I can't help you on this one - my commute is ten minutes. But, the important thing is that you'd like your job. So, my vote would be to go for a job you like with a long commute rather than a job you dread for a short commute. Good luck.! :)

2 minutes, 2 whole blocks,
I hate my job after today and I am willing to drive 3 hours if need be! Who is the patron saint for new jobs? I think it is Joseph, St. Joseph, please find me a new job, NOW!

If I work at night, about 25 minutes...but if I work during the day, about 45-50, depending on traffic. The sad thing is I only live 18 miles from the hospital.

There are people who work with me who drive almost two hours...It takes my husband 35 minutes, and that is at 3:30am with NO traffic on an interstate.

Can't help you, sorry :o My job is not down the street, but sort of around the corner...3-5 minutes depending on traffic ;)

It depends on traffic for me. My office is exactly 19 miles from my house but I can get there in anywhere from 25 minutes to an hour and a half. DH and I try to carpool when we can since that lane is faster, but its not always feasible. Traffic here is bad. I would rather drive farther without traffic that drive the distance I do, but sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. :(

19 miles one way for me too. (20 - 25 minutes depending on traffic, but I've made it much quicker ;) )

6-7 minutes which is one of the reasons I've stayed put.

12 miles. Usually takes 35 mins, but can take up to an hour and a half.

I used to commute to Princeton U. that was an hour away. Until I had kids, stayed home for 13 years and went back to work. I'm 10 min. away, couldn't be any further with the kids in school.

If I drove directly from home to work it would be about 8 - 10 minutes. But I drop the kids off at daycare first, so it ends up being about 45 minutes.

I used to commute 1 1/2 hours to work. I LOVED my job, but I couldn't do it any longer b/c of my kids. Someone else suggested too, the books on tape. I hated getting to work some days b/c I didn't want to stop listening!

Good luck with whatever you decide
