We are in the process of buying a house and moving back to the suburb from the city life. The expenses that are coming up are a little overwhelming.

DH said to the kids over the weekend that they need to say bye bye to Mickey for a few years :( Luckily, we have already had 6 trips in 14 months.

I guess I need to rent out the next 2 years' points and possibly even sell some.

Everyone talks about the upcoming trip on this board. How long is your longest break from the mouse?

:( We last went in Nov. of 2002and do not plan on going until Nov. of 2005. But we just purchased this year. The only reason we are waiting until 2005 is due to our kids school schedule.

sorry to hear you may have to sell some points but hopefully it's only temporary and only part of your points.

Good luck in moving to the suburbs.

We plan to go every year for a while. Once our youngest is 7 or 8, we'll plan some exchanges or rent out our points and use the cash for Hawaii, Carribean, etc. (or bank/borrow points for a year and have a big family blowout).

Honestly...once a year at WDW is enough for us. It's just the right amount of fun fun fun for the kids and relaxation (pool time)for us. Driving down (7 hours for us), spreading the park hoppers over 2-3 years, and eat many meals in the villa...and it turns into a pretty cheap vacation for us.

After not travelling much while DS3 was little, we've found our travel schedule *packed* this summer. Those unscheduled trips really do add up. My kids will only be home for 6 of the 12 weeks of summer vacation this year! I'm ready to go back to one spring break trip and one summer trip.

Well we just went this past Dec and now due to a knee injury we will not be back till 2006. We feel bad because we were suposed to go in Sept to celebrate my oldest daughters 8th birthday.

Shortest time between visits - 7 1/2 months
Longest time between visits - 17 months

We've evened things out since then...now it's around a year between trips.

Maybe when the kids are a bit older we'll take longer breaks and do different vacations more often. We'll see.

We had been going 2 to 3 times a year since we bought in 95 but finally began to get tired of it. The last time we went was July 93 and we will not be going back until jan2005 so that is about 17 months I guess.

7 years, 89 - 96, way too long, could hardly recognize the world, so much had been added on
then after that we were in a pattern of every 2 - 2 1/2 years
98,99,02
went to cs in 03 for a convention, bought dvc at bcv on that trip and went to okw in dec 03 as first trip home
now we are doing 3 trips this year, may, oct, dec
we just did 2 add-ons via resale, okw and bwv and plan on 3 trips a year
i am semi-retired and only work 2 days a week as an rn and that money all goes directly into the vacation fund, i can hardly wait between trips now

5 years for me.... that was way too long! But that was when I was under my parents care so that had a lot to do with it. I seem to be going 2 times a year now and I kind of like that a lot! Actually that's what prompted me into buying DVC :teeth:

I went in 1980, 1992, 1994, and not again until 2001; since then we've been going on an annual basis. So put me down for 12 years.

Let's see....
Went in 1985. Then the next time was 1999. So, I guess it was about 14 years!

I typically get the "itch" after I've been away for 2 years. I've waited longer than 3 years before, but I think 3 years is the optimal time for me to return. I imagine that I'll be cutting that down to closer to 2 years now that I'm a DVC member, but I don't like to go too frequently because I like to keep WDW fresh and extremely special.

We went every 3 years when we were raising our sons, starting in 1977. In the 90's we looked into DVC, decided it wasn't for us, our family was too "old". Well, we found ourselves going every other year for the flower show, and somehow we found that Disney does "do" Christmas! This was in '02, and that was the catalyst for our renewed interest in, and purchase of, DVC. Now, I doubt there will ever be 3 years between our visits. And we have grandbabies to share the times with. We are just waiting for them to be old enough to travel.

We go every other year and exchange on the "off" years. But we have cruised (twice) on the off years so we still get that magic of Disney. I would really like to exchange to the Dude Ranch when kids get a little older. I'm thinking our next trip to WDW will be in December of 2005- we have never been during that time and I really want to see the decorations and also because it's the 50th Anniversary of Disney Parks or something. I'm not exactly sure what they are calling the celebration starting May 5, 2005?

Isn't that the best part of DVC??? We are leaving in 3 days, but I can still be thinking ahead to the next trip. hee hee.:teeth:

Aug 1989 til July 1997. Then not until 2000. Right now we are on a 20 month span if you dont count HH. But we will go more often now for the forseeable future.

I can't handle more than 12 months between trips ! On average, we've been 1-3 times a year since '95 (it was '86 before that !). This year will be 14 months between trips but that's only because I had to cancel a trip to HH for this coming week due to a family illness.

We went the first week of June 2001 and didn't go back until the last week of October 2002.
That was our longest break-we usually go once a year in the fall, but in Sept. 2001 I had my son, so we had no trips planned.
We did go to HH in March 0f 2002, though.

Less than a year, sometimes only a few months apart for the last decade. The only year we did not go in the 90s was 1993. But we only went twice in the 80s and our only trip in the 70s was our honeymoon.

What I've noticed is that the distance between trips is becoming less and less over the years. First time, we were away 3 years, then every other year for a little while, then every year, now twice a year-once around now, for the Flower and Garden Festival, once around Christmas (first week in January 2005-means it'll be 7 whole months).
