I live in KY and our High School Golf Season is only 2 months long, I am trying to find out how long other schools seasons are in other states. Can you list your State and how long the seasons are and if they are fall or spring? Thanks!!!!!

Might try over on the community board. Golf is a pretty expensive sport so there may not be a lot of players here.:thumbsup2

Illinois; around a 2 month season.

in Missouri it is a spring sport.

GA Middle school around 6 weeks fall and spring.

NY- High School, spring sport about 2 months.

Thanks! I was hoping other states would be longer than ours so I could use it for an argument to have our season extended!

Well, we are in MN so our season is limited by weather. Practice starts the second Monday in March (indoor usually hitting balls off mats in they gym), first tournaments are usually early April, the state tournament is the first week of June. Last spring DD13's team had 2 tournaments where they didn't have to wear winter clothes :lmao: . One tournament it was 35°-but they still played.

I would LOVE to see the golf season moved to the fall. The courses are empty, in better shape and the kids play all summer long so they are ready for the season. Here you can't really play before the season starts so it is really difficult. Some of the golf teams hold their tryouts in the summer-reevaluate the next year but it gives the coaches a better look at how the kids can play then coming in cold in the spring.

DD's coach is trying to get something set up at the course so they can at least hit balls this winter. There are a couple driving ranges that are outdoor ranges with heated stalls but the closest one is about 40 minutes from here.

Oh, all of the spring sports here have the same season length as golf--they all start the 2nd week in March, finish 1st week of June.

Wow, you're lucky, our spring season went from Mid March to right after spring break, mid April. DD was in the throes of migraines (trying to regulate meds) and didn't play any this spring. Also says since she was the only girl that she's not playing this fall either.

Our middle school seasons are like that. They are only about 2 months long at the most. They have 5 seasons though, which is nice because then the kids get to try different things. Fall season goes from the start of school (Sept 2nd this year) to the end of Oct. Winter I goes from Nov to Christmas Break, Winter II goes from Jan-end of Feb. Winter III goes from Mid-Feb to spring break (March), spring goes from after Spring break to end of April.

DD13 golfs varsity so that makes their season longer--she is the only 8th grade girl too--we are trying to find more so she has some kids her age that will play when they get to high school.

I hate that KElly has given up but here in the South it's pretty much the "good old boys" game. I am truly not even sure if we'll have a team this year, last year the Principal hosted it as no one else was willing to step up. He retired and the female assistant principal moved up, I don't think she knows anything about it. I spoke with a few of the boys' mom's from last year and they ahve heard nothing as well. I hate it, she has a really pretty swing and with some encouragement she might could wrangle a scholarship to supplement any academic ones she might get. Biggest problem here is non of the other girls are interested/have any encouragement. Here most girls play soccer or cheer (all stars), some play softball. I thin kthat a lot feel that golf is a "rich" sport, lol!

In Eastern Washington our HS golf season is from the end of February to the state tournament in May. In Western Washington (on the coast)their season runs sometime in the fall but they also plan the state tournament in May. In Western Washington the weather is often mild enough that they can plan year round but the official season is only a few months.

Move to MN, our DD's can golf together. Girls sports are huge here. We had 32 girls 9-12, well and DD in 7th grade, out for our girl's golf team last spring. I agree that golf can be expensive but it doesn't have to be. There is a course near our house that has deals all of the time so you can pretty much play iwth a 4-some for around $30 TOTAL. It isn't the nicest course but it is ok.

You are right about the scholarship--we were just looking at tournament scores from some of DD's teammates that graduated last spring. There are girls, ON SCHOLARSHIP, that can't break 100. DD would have finished about 50th out of 150 players in one tournament we looked at.

PA here. Our season is running from August 18 to October 26. My son was thrilled to make the team
