How long is too long?

We are currently planning our next trip to DL. When we went last year we came in early March for 5 nights and stayed at PPH. They were all park days, but we typically left the parks around 6:30pm. One of those days included a VIP tour to help get things done. We still didn't see or do everything we hoped to do.

Next trip I'm thinking 10 days. Would that be to long? We are coming from Australia and it's a sole DL trip.

We've done 10 days, AP's, come back a couple more times in the same year. The nice thing about the longer trip is that at no point do you feel rushed and you get to do some of the lesser known things in the park. Given the length of the travel I'd totally go for it, you can always sneak in a Universal day in there too.

10 days will give you plenty of time to do what you want at a relaxed pace. Take the time to appreciate all the little details, do a tour, enjoy shows, go on your favorite rides several times, enjoy your favorite restaurants, etc. You can do a beach or shopping day, too. And if you don't get to cover every single thing that you want to do, that just gives you an excuse to visit again!

I don't believe there is such a thing as too much time in the park!!! We are going for 9 days this time with longer park hours than our last trip so I am really excited about not feeling rushed. We will have plenty of time to do everything we want and have down time at the pool. Have fun planning! :yay:

When we are there in June we will be there for 9 nights. We are spending our first night at PPH and then moving over to VGC for the rest of the trip (we are DVC members). We did this same thing on our first trip in 2013 but instead of one night at PPH, we stayed one night at DLH. People who know us and have gone to DLR before thought we were nuts to go for that long, but actually we loved it. We never felt rushed and we got to really stop and smell the roses. We also had a couple non park days thrown in where we just hung around the pool or walked around DTD. We are taking the same approach when we go this June and we cannot wait :goodvibes.

We get a bit burned out after 5 days. We did Sunday afternoon through Friday (24 hour party) last May. We were done, especially with the crowds for the 24 hour party and left early. But we also have little kids and that is draining.

Spending a nice leisurely time in the parks is great. I hope you are also taking in some of our other sights in Southern California. It's beautiful here, and lots to do. You might even start some of your days off property, and end them at the parks.

In the last 6 months, well, as of next week, I'll have done 9 days, 2 days, 7 days and 5 day trips. Before the 5 day trip, I feel like I've seen it all/done it all, literally. HOWEVER, there's tons that I've only done once and I've only spent maybe 90 minutes in Fantasyland total. ;)

At 9 straight days, I felt like, ok, this is getting exhausting. I can see why they only have 5-day passes But it really gives you a chance to enjoy. I love camping out on the curb for 2 hrs before a parade, taking in the sights and sounds and chatting with other guests. It's a relaxing way to visit. I'm going to be sad when my year as an AP holder is over.

I'm usually done after 5 days, but then I get overwhelmed by crowds and need frequent breaks (not unlike a toddler ;) ) Coming from Australia, I could totally see taking a nice, long leisurely trip, though. I think I'd try Universal and a beach day, too, maybe?

Sounds so fun, I hope you have a wonderful trip!

This last set of trips we did the with the Annual Pass, we did two large trips in November. Both times we were in the parks for about 6 full days and a partial day. By that point, we felt like we were ready to leave. We ended up either heading out of town for a concert during the middle of the trip, or hitting Legoland for a few days after the trip. On the last trip, we even returned for a few hours one day to catch some of the newly opened StarWars stuff. I could tell when we entered that we had had just about enough. I can't imagine 10 days at DL. 10 day at Disney WORLD??? Yes. With 4 parks, you can spread a lot of stuff out. But with just 2 parks in Anaheim, 10 days seems a tad too long for us.

Lol. ;)
But are you coming from Australia?

We did 14 and were able to do everything at a leisurely pace and not worry. I loved it, and will be doing 2 weeks again next time I go. We don't get to go very often since we're from Canada, so it makes the most sense to get as much into one trip as possible.

We never do less than 14 days! And yes we spent them all at DL/DCA. For us we fly from very Northern Canada (not as long as you will fly from Australia) and staying that long makes it worth our while. We are a family of 6 and usually bring Grandma along with us. We take our time, ride every ride, see every show, browse in every store, wait in line for every character we see and eat leisurely lunches as we watch the crowds go by. For us there is no such thing as too much Disney!

A lot depends on how many hours/day you spend in the parks. Getting to parks at rope drop and staying till close is exhausting, both physically and mentally. It's probably a lot easier to spend 6 hours/day for 10 days in the parks than 12 hours/day for 5 days.

Another Aussie traveller here :)

This year will be our 5th visit to the US and have been to DL on each trip.

Last year we did 16nights in anaheim and had our disney pass for 20 days!!! And we did go nearly every day including the 60th Birthday :)

This year we are doing 3nights Santa Monica and 10 nights anaheim with a 10 day pass.

We never get sick of it!!!! Means you can go slow and really enjoy everything. We do lots of other driving around and experience other things in the area and might only go to the park for a few hours at night. other days we spend all day there.

Did you know you can get a special 10 day park hopper only for aussies?? Make entry very cheap :)

I have heard that yep, is there a big price difference between buying 2 x 5 day passes or the 10 day pass? Where can I buy the 10 day pass? Thanks for the help :-)
