For me, personally, the 50th has a lot to do with celebrating a milestone in history. I'm no historian and I can count my visits to DL on one hand, but Walt changed the world opening DL in 1955. The introduction of "theme" to the known concept of "amusement" parks was pretty significant. Changed not only the park experience, but the concept of an American vacation, too. My folks (70+) tell me repeatedly that the concept of "vacation" I grew up with is significantly different than the one they grew up with. (Of course, I like mine better!
