How long is ideal?

I just got back from 8 days at WDW and want to plan my first trip to DL. Fairly relaxed, lots of eating, riding everything without stress. I’ll definitely plan to buy Genie+ and check data for a low crowd time because I have no kids to worry about

So - how long? My initial thought was 3 or 4 Park days then visit LA for the weekend

Thoughts?

For me it has always been 3 full days. Especially for me now that I am traveling alone. More than 3 days (on any trip) just leaves me feeling lonely.

My trips have been 5 days, but that was pre-pandemic. We were able to sleep in and still do everything we wanted, including riding some things twice and the ability to take breaks in the afternoon. If you want a slow relaxed pace, I would say 4-5 days.

I’m thinking 5. Arrive at Grand Californian on Sunday, enjoy M-F in the parks, see the weekend shows on Friday, then spend Sat & Sunday, maybe Monday in LA before coming home.

That should be relaxed enough he enjoys it without being so much he’s reluctant to let me plan the next one 😂

5 would be ideal. That way you can take your time and not rush around, plus the more nights your there the more opportunities you have for dinners or nighttime entertainment.

Since 5 days is the max ticket option, that is what I planned for when I took the grandkids.
For my solo trips 2-3 days is plenty.
When I was an AP holder, I would fly PDX > SNA for a day trip to see the holiday decorations and get a little holiday cheer. That is if the flight schedules gave me at least 5-6 hours in DL.

Now the parks are so different in terms of crowds and wait times. If you can book 5 days it will be easier to see and do what you want.

Good luck and have fun planning

Definitely 5 days, esp as it sounds like this is more than just a Disney trip with LA in the mix. Use that transition day as a down day if you can. We are now local-ish (San Diego) but my fave trip was Dec 2021 where we did 2 nights LA (universal day 2 then Griffith and tar pits enroute to DL) then 5 nights DL and 2 (turned into three cause of flight cancellation) beach. That trip was awesome. Assuming you are flying into LAX I would end with DL. End with the magic and then Uber it back to the airport.
