If we try and arrive at the park about 45 minutes early to be towards the front of the line, how long will be our expected wait for Anna and Elsa if we go right at rope drop?

You might get lucky with 30 minutes, more likely much more. Remember people are already inside the park with ADRs.

There is another post on the board about Rope Drop and Anna & Elsa. They seem to be escorting people to Fantasyland and stopping the running and sneaking over from other lands I.E. Tomorrowland. You will be upfront but those with ADRs will be ahead of you.

I read one post that someone said the wait for A&E was 2 hours right after rope drop with the walk over. But at least people (kids) aren't getting run over now.

Good luck. I would get a FP+ for A&E if you really want to see them, it is by far the best option.

Remember that even with walking over at rope drop, there are people with FPs starting at 9:05 AM that will make it into the line and get to go ahead of you. That coupled with the fact that it has an incredibly small capacity makes the line instantly very long.

Were at Disney 3 weeks ago and walked past A&E at around 8:30AM after an 8:00AM EMH and the wait was already 240 minutes. Not sure how long it is right at RD for EMH but it sure builds quick.

Spoke with a CM working at the FPH last week about the crazy wait times for A&E. It was mid-afternoon and the wait time was 180 minutes. He told me that the worst time is at RD when everyone heads there. He said the wait time can hit over 300 minutes in a very short period of time first thing in the morning.
