Just looking at a great OKW contract available with a bunch of banked points.

Definately more than we want to spend but I am considering it if we could rent the banked points to pay down the original price.

Can anyone tell me their experience of renting points on this board?

I am very interested in seeing if anyone has any trouble renting their points?

Thanks much!

I have not had any trouble getting rid of points I would not be able to use. It is a bit of a hassle to check for dates for people and then they change their minds, or want you to change dates, etc. If you can find a member who needs points transferred into their account, it is much easier. But, to answer your original question, it is not too difficult to rent them out. (Just a little work)

I rented some points here recently that we couldn't use in '05 and it was a snap. Took me about a week to rent out 140 pts and got to deal with some great WDW fans.

It's only taken about 3 days or so to rent the 2 times I've done it. Both times were a breeze - the renters were wonderful! We require full payment now up front(after they recieve the confirmation letter) with no refunds - just a rescheduling - and that seems to work out fine for both parties! Good luck!

It took less than a week and I got over a dozen replies. I also bought an add-on with about 100 points I couldn't use by the date they'd lapse. Since I couldn't transfer them, I made the reservation and they paid me once I confirmed. There's a bit of trust involved but it worked fine.

Also depends on the time of year and when the points expire. For instance, if you had a batch of points that would expire in February and it was already september, you could have a lot of difficulty. October and November would be close to sold out because of the F&W Fest, December would be sold out because of the December/Holidays thing. You can have points coming out of your ears and they won't do you much good if there are no reservations available! That would leave you january to rent out. Not a popular time of year to go PLUS you would be within 30 days , making those "distressed" points.

This scenario would definitely give you "trouble" renting out the points.

It also depends on what price you are looking for. If it is a time when there are lots of points available for $10 and you are looking to get $12, you might have a problem or it may take longer to rent them.

the going rate is $10 - if you have some points that are going to expire you simply offer them for less like $9 a point.

no problems!!!

I was just actually going to ask the same question. I wanted to rent out our 300 pts. at VWL next year to pay for our Disney cruise next August and am a little worried about being able to rent them out. But I was glad to read here that others have done it with no problems. Thanks!
