How long for vitalchek??

Hi all!

I am pretty angry with myself, because I was sure we had all the kids birth certificates. Somewhere, somehow, sometime, two of them got misplaced. Anyway, We are cruising 12/12, and I ordered bc's from vitalchek today.

So I'm curious from vitalchek veterans: How long after ordering did the birth certificates come? Is there any way to speed the process? They didn't have any faster alternatives on the website---has anyone called to ask?

I live in Maryland. I ordered a birth certificate on Monday and got it that Friday. I was amazed at the speed. I'm sure it depends on the speed of your states Vital Records Division. I bet you'll get it quickly!

If you're still living in the same town the kids were born in, you may be able to go to the county courthouse to get the BCs. Depends on the laws of your state.

DD took her driver's license and went to one of the county courthouse locations and got two copies I think while she waited for herself when she was going to apply for her passport so she could send one and have one as a backup in case the passport didn't get here before she had to leave for her job.

Just a thought but might save you some worry.

I live in an area where the local vital records department said it could take up to 6 weeks for a birth certificate. It took Vitalchek less than 1 week to get the records to us. Hoping yours will be the same.

Believe it or not, I've been pricing flights back to NJ from Vegas, because I could get them SAME DAY in NJ!!! A bit extreme, I know, but I'm panicked right now...

OMG!!! I am so happy right now!!!!! I knew in my heart---okay really really down deeeeeeeeepppppppp---my DH would find them!

Anyway....thank you all for reading this and responding. I'm sure there are other people who panic in this way, too.

Glad you found them, but just in case anyone else needs to know it took me a week to get them from Vitalchek in California.

Glad you found them. Some have posted that Vitalcheck B/C's often are not certified so they are useless.
Here in California, is you still live in the county where your kids were born, you can walk in, pay the fee, and get a certified copy on the spot.

What is vitalchek and how can I use it. I live in Jersey and my son was born in Alaska. I do have a copy of his birth certificate but it is all shreded and I should invest in a new one. Any info would be so helpful...thanks

We ordered DH's birth certificate from Maryland through Vital Chek. It took about 2 weeks to get to California.

Do the birth certificates from vitalchek have the raised seal on them? I heard we need this type of birth certificate for the cruise.

I attempted to order my son's birth cert...I live in Jersey and he was born in Alaska. While doing so...it said I have to fax them a copy of a federal i.d with signature the day after ordering. My son only has a county I.d., he is 17 and I only have my Drivers License.....do you think this is ok to fax?? I tried to call but was on hold for 25 minutes before giving up. TIA Tracy

The BC I ordered through VitalChek from Maryland had a slightly raised seal and was on multi-colored paper. I didn't have to fax anything to get my daughter's BC, but maybe different states have different rules. Did you go through VitalChek?
