How long for a DVC resort to sell out?

As a relative newbie, I'm curious how long it has taken past DVC resorts to sell out. I know that it depends on several factors--resort size (number of points to sell), economy in general, desirability (Aulani), etc... but, assuming Riviera is a sought-after property and no recession in the immediate future, how long would you expect it to take to sell out?

I've seen anecdotes in threads here and there, but compiling this data might be interesting for some. I'd like to know how long it took for VGF & BLT to sell through, what the opening price/incentives were, how frequently the prices/incentives changed, etc.

VB never did, they just canceled the rest of the complex, Aulani is still selling and looks like it will be years to go if they ever sell out. Some were gone in a few years, I would expect Riviera to take several years and the next one Reflections of whatever to take years.

Poly sales started January 2015, and sold out early/mid 2017.
Copper Creek started sales March 2017, and will sell out around June 2019.

Aulani started sales in 2010 and will never sell out ever.

I'd expect Riviera, based on size and price, to sell out in roughly 2022.

I really hope what you said about Aulani is not true :). LOL!!! It needs to sell out in the next 10 or so years I hope... I think I read somewhere it's a little more than half sold out, like 55% or something, but don't quote me on it.

Great3

Since the end date is fix, new buyer will get less and less time as owners. To make up for the shorter time you own Disney is raising the cost. And they wonder why it's not selling, DUH!!!

I hear you, especially with Resales. But most buyers don't know about resale, especially the ones buying from Disney. In this case for Aulani, they need to try and sell, they can't just cancel like VB, because the buildings are already built. So while it's taking a long longer, I am sure Aulani will eventually sell out.

Nah. Disney will just own a much higher proportion and use them for cash.

Ah, I didn't think about that. I guess Disney could just "cancel" by not declaring the rooms into DVC inventory. Than Aulani would be "sold out" at that point after all the points for the declared rooms are sold out.
