How long does it take YOU to drive to WDW?

If we drive straight through, it's about 21 hours. We did that one time. Now er take 2-3 days at a leisurely pace and enjoy ourselves. There are 6 of us, so it's still cheaper to pay for gas, lodging and food than airfare.

I also usually take the Amtrak AutoTrain in one direction, so that makes things more fun, and less stressful!

Wow...we are doing that for the first time this year!!!. We are driving down from Boston and then taking the autotrain back. We figured we would try something new. The kids are really looking forward to the train, too. Hopefully it will be less stressful

I LOVE the AutoTrain!! I usually take it one way, and drive the other. Usually I will take the train in the cheaper direction. So in the Spring, I will go south on the train, and drive north home. In the Fall, I drive down and then take the train back north. I usually go against the "snowbirds" - the senior citizens who have homes in the north in the summer, and south in the winter. I save alot of money by doing that! But taking the train home after a Disney trip is wonderful, since you already did your driving on the way down, and now have a relaxing trip home to look forwards to! Have a great time!!

We drive from Maine and it takes us 23 hours over 2 days, 16 hours the first day and 7 hours the 2nd day. Will never get on a plane again after a nightmare of a flight from florida in 2002.

We have never driven before (because of the distance!!) but we are adventurous this year. It will take 36-38 hours of driving over 3-4 days each way!! DH has a month's vacation (the rest of us are off in the summer) and we are staying two weeks in WDW. The kids are really young adults (19, 16) and we are excited at seeing new areas. Hopefully, it will be fun!

It takes us 9.5-10 hours to drive from the northern Piedmont area of NC. We've driven many times, and flown a couple of times too. With four of us, flying has become prohibitively expensive.

We drive from Central New Jersey, and it takes us tops 15 hours. We drive straight through and at night! The only stops aside from gas is for breakfast and by then we are in FL already. On the way home its a different story, we get right on the road after check out, and that's about 11 am and we don't get home until the next morning. I really wish we could wait until late at night to leave, but we would have no where to stay and nap/relax until that time.

It takes us apprx 9.5 to 10 hours to travel from the foothills of Northwestern
NC. However, flight time is 1hr 40 minutes. I prefer to fly, but with a family of four it gets very expensive. Last week we drove down to WDW and our gas in my Expedition cost just a little more than one airline ticket. So even my our big SUV, we really came out ahead financially by driving and we had some quality time to talk and sing together.

We usually drive to WDW in two days, driving 16 hours (800 miles) the first day and 6 hours (300 miles) the second day. We usually drive an average of 50mph which includes breakfast and lunch picnics and stops at welcome centers for a stretch, drink, snack, change of drivers, etc.. I actually enjoy the ride. It is part of the vacation. We have two 1000+ mile vacations planned within two weeks of each other.

But now since I end taking a half day off at work the day before our vacation starts (gotta save that vacation time) - we leave right 12 and stop midway. I hate driving at night through SC and GA.

Another western NC'er here. Takes us 9 to 10 hours depending on the number of potty breaks. We flew once, but our son got very sick midway through that trip and we had to get to a medical facility. It was a nightmare getting there. After that we vowed to always have a vehicle at our disposal. We also enjoy taking two days to go home and stopping somewhere new each time. St Augustine, Kennedy Space Center, Hilton Head...there's a lot of great stops on the way home.

From Long Island, New York - 18 to 21 hours. We stop overnight in Georgia.
I wonder though, why, on the way home, the trip seems to go faster? I am not the only one that feels this way. We have friends that drive and they say the same thing. The drive is part of our vacation fun.

It used to take 13 hours from the MD suburbs to Orlando (maybe 13.5 to actually get onto the WDW property and parked at a resort). This was 2 adults driving almost 10 years ago. No meal stops--we packed sandwiches and sodas.

With heavier traffic these days I'd add an hour, and with kids a couple of more hours to the trip.

I do have one vice--stopping at all the state welcome centers on I-95.

About 16 driving hours from the northern tip of the First State! We leave before 4 a.m. to get through Washington DC traffic before the rush than it's usually smooth sailing (til we get to Florida of course!). It usually takes us about 18 hours with stops.

Carver, MA to WDW - Anywhere from 20 to 22 hours on a "normal" trip.

I normally only go to Deltona (that's where my other house is) instead of Disney property and that takes a hour off of the trip.

My personal best house to house has been 18 hours, the worst has been 30 hours ( the trip from H*LL)

I/we stop for 1 meal (usually breakfast on the way down and dinner on the way back) gas and potty stops.

I have done this trip with anywhere from just myself to with DW and our 2 nieces 2 and 4. (they were great, no problems at all)

Driving on the turnpike ALL the way, or 2 hours flying...1 hour at airport 1 hour fly time, actually 33 min in the air, if if plane is on time.
