How long does it take to recover from Swine Flu?

According to our Dr. it can last anywhere from a couple of days (mild case) to several weeks. The average case is 7-10 days, but he said he saw one patient who had been coughing for 3 weeks.

Of course it's going to vary from person to person and depends on the severity of the case. Secondary infections are a huge concern with H1N1, and someone who has to deal with that is going to be down a lot longer than someone with a more straighforward case. But DD's friend, who had a confirmed case of H1N1 with no secondary infection issues, was out of school from Thursday to Tuesday.

I felt like crap from Mon-Thurs morn---feel pretty good today. Still a little weak and get winded easy--just came upstairs from putting a load of laundry in and had to sit down...but all in all I had three REALLY bad days, once I got a few doses of tamiflu in I felt better. I did end up having to go on antibiotics for fluid in my lungs Wednesday night but its all good...feel better now.
Now my daughter on the other hand came home from school yesterday with a 102 fever....she is now cooking at 104 and we are waiting for the Dr to open so we can head over there. Her head hurts (mine felt like it was going to explode) and she is sleeping now.

DH (51) ran a fever for a week and he felt tired and dragged for about 3 weeks. It has now been 7 weeks and he is still coughing. He has been back to the Dr. twice who. Dr. has reassured him the cough lingers, they have checked his lungs and sent him on his way.

DS (19) down for a week, coughed for 2.5-3 weeks or so. Dragged thru the second week but by week 3 was back to normal college activities.

DD (11) fever & sore throat for a week, mild cough - all better by day 9.

I am cruising through day four. My fever is gone. I'm treating the cough, congestion, and sore throat with sudafed, robitussin dm, and tylenol.

That's a honking long time. What meds is he taking? Is he taking them religiously, or just when he feels the worst?

About 3 weeks here.

Seems like the exhaustion really is the worst part of it all

He takes an RX cough syrup at night and OTC Robitussin during the day. The cough annoys the crap out of me and I sent him to the Dr. 2 weeks ago, the Dr. told him to get me ear plugs, it is the nature of the illness.
Now, personally I think his Dr. is not being aggressive enough and get me earplugs is not a suitable answer but that is where DH is at.

Originally DH was treated with some antibiotics because he was coughing up gunk, then a week later the H1N1 Lab tests came back positive and it was too late at that point to treat him with anything else. By the time he went to the Dr originally he was past the 48 hour mark, it did not occur to us that he had the flu since he really was not in the target/risk group age ranges.

Anywhere from 2 days (my two kids) to months in very severe cases. I would guess that the average is a few days.
