How long does it take to get recorded in Disney's system?

after passing ROFR? We passed ROFR on 8/22 and I am wondering how long will it be until we can make reservations. At this point, we have not yet received the paperwork from our title company. I would imagine that we would be getting the paperword from title company any day now. Then, I guess we should wait another 2-3 weeks until we are in Disney's system. Let's see --- we passed ROFR on 8/22 and I expect to be in Disney's system and ready to make reservations no later than the end of September. Is that reasonable?

That is pretty reasonable, but it just depends on how quickly all the paperwork comes in. After you passed ROFR the closing company had to request the estoppel letter from DVC and do the title search. That can take about 2 weeks. Then they will send you and the seller the final documents. For you it will be easy because all you have to do is sign and send the certified funds. The seller has to get his/her paperwork notorized and sent back. Once everything gets back to the closing company, you are looking at a couple of days until you officially close. They will then notify DVC after that and it could take 4-10 business days for DVC to get you in the system.

HTH!

After closing, how long does it take for you to receive your membership materials (handbook, membership card, etc...)?

We just closed last week. Any chance of me getting my card before my Sept. 25 trip?

Well, I received my "resale packet" about a week after I was setup in the system. That packet only included the "new member handbook" and the "vacation planner booklet". I did not receive a membership ID card and was told it would take about 90-days to get. However, they told me that if I was going to be going to WDW I could call the sales center and pick up a temporary card at the sales center at SSR. Since I am actually going to Disneyland my guide told me he'd mail me a temp card so I can get the food discounts there. :goodvibes

Oh, I did an SSR add-on the same day I got setup in they system for my initial resale purchase. I received the big box of membership information for the add-on about 4 days later via FedEx, but I haven't received anything else from the resale purchase. I don't know the process for that but I'm guessing I might get another box... (I'm not sure).

I was notified that I passed ROFR on 7/12, and I made my first reservations on 8/12. As it was stated, a lot depends on how fast the seller turns around the paperwork.

You can call the closing company to find out the status of the paperwork. You can also call your guide in about two weeks or and find out if you're in the system yet. On Wednesday (8/10) we were partially in the system, but our points weren't there yet. When I called on 8/12 our points had finally caught up with us and I was able to make reservations.

If everything goes well, you should be able to book something by about 9/22. You'll have to contact your guide to get your membership number.

We passed the ROFR in mid-July (sorry, dont know the dates). It was on a Tuesday that we received the call that we passed.

We received our new member handbook and vacation planning guide about a week later.

I called member services less than 2 weeks later( the Monday just short of 2 weeks) and we were in the system and made a reservation. I got my membership number from the member services rep over the phone. We didn't get our membership cards for another 3 weeks after that.

I was told that if you do not have your membership card yet when you take a DVC trip, you can go to SSR member services desk and they will issue you a temporary card.

Normally, the longer lag is in getting the closing done. Depending on who you are using, you may be able to shorten that time somewhat by using "expedited closing."

Once you close, you will normally be "in the system" within 10 working days. Our experience -- and others have reported the same -- was that we were in the computer system in name only one day, but there were no points in the account. The points went in the next day, and from that point forward, we could make reservations.

Be sure to double-check your points to be sure everything is correct. We were supposed to have 149 points available in our use year, but when they went in the account they had already been banked. That was fine with us, because that's exactly what we were going to do, but double-check just to be sure.

You should also double check everything any time you do any kind of a transaction with Member Services. They're human, just like the rest of us, and it's a lot easier to make corrections on the spot than later.

Good luck and welcome home! :cool1:

I kept track of my dates throughout the process and here is my experience. We paid an extra $45 for expedited closing and were fortunate that the sellers got their paperwork in as quickly as we did every step of the way.

07/26/05 - Passed ROFR

08/05/05 - (Fri) Received closing docs from TCS, Inc.

08/08/05 - (Mon) Fed Ex'd closing docs back to TCS, Inc.

08/10/05 - Closed

08/19/05 - Made it into DVC's system. Made our first reservations!

We would have been in DVC's system 2 days earlier, but the virus/worm that was going around at the time caused problems for DVC Admin's computers.

Just curious what you rec'd for the add on that was different than the resale purchase?

I have a funny feeling you will not be getting anything else for the resale purchase.

For the original resale purchase I received:
1. New Member Handbook
2. Vacation Planner
3. Product Understanding Checklist for OKW
(this was marketed as a sample and for information purposes only)

For the add-on purchase direct thru DVC I received (a 6lb FedEx box):
1. New Member Handbook
2. Vacation Planner
3. Product Understanding Checklist for SSR (with my contract/member #'s)
4. All the paperwork stuff (purchase agreements, deed letter, receipt of info letters)
5. The public offering statements
6. Member Benefits Guide
7. Disclosure Guide About the Interval International Exchange Program
8. Buena Vista Trading Company Exchange Program Disclosure Documents
9. DVC Member Tote
10. SSR Lithograph

I had thought that with resale purchases that you would get all of the member information, so items 1-3 and 5-8. So far I got 1-3 for the OKW resale. Now I don't need duplicates of the same information, but I thought that resale purchasers got the same info. Oh and I didn't get a temp membership ID, I had to call my guide and he's sending me one so I can use it on my upcoming trip to CA. Now that I think about it, I still haven't gotten my PIN info to access the member website either... oh well... all in due time :goodvibes

I am anxiously awaiting our points getting into Disney's system and wonder if we will receive the same as you for resale?

Is there anything I would be missing that I should definately ask they send me? It looks like the Members Benefits Guide may be of interest as well as the II info. Are these both useful with good info or should I not worry about it?

Thanks for all the great info!!

I think it would all be important in some capacity. I haven't actually read thru it all, maybe someday.

When you get your resale packet, let us know what you get in yours.

When you buy direct from the developer of the timeshare, Items 3-8 above are required by law .

You would not get them on resale, unless the previous owner just thought you should receive them and paid to send them to you.

Thanks Jim!

For those that don't get it, I did find some of the items available on the member website in pdf format.

It took over a week for the owners to get the paperwork back to Timeshare Closing Services. Once returned TCS faxed the paperwork that day to Disney. So it should be ten business days after the owners return the paperwork.
