we will land around 10:30am....how much time should we plan on to get baggage, find shuttle, get paperwork done and get our car? ( be on our way)
would like to get an idea of time frame for lunch since i am sure we will all be very hungry by that point from having a very early morning( leaving home at 5am) and trying to set up arrival day plans.

thank you

We landed around 10:30 am last week. My husband went and got the luggage from baggage claim and I went directly and caught the shuttle to the rental facility. (It is right next to the the Hertz facility). It was about a 5-10 minute ride on the bus, and @ Thrifty site there were a lot of agents working and I only had to stand in line for about a minute. I picked up the van and was back @ the airport to pick up the husbank, kids and luggage by 11:10 am.

BTW, we had a a minivan rented using a code from Mousesavers (the Northwest code...) We had no problem using it, even though we did not fly Northwest. The agent did ask me how I got such a great rate though - she seemed pretty suprised. Then I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a Grand Caravan for $14 more a day. She told me it had extra luggage room, built in child saftey seats etc... I had to tell her no three times! When I went out to get the van, we had a Town and County (equivalent to the Grand Caravan) for the base price.

When returning the van, be sure to leave plenty of time. I had a hard time finding the place on the way back. I dropped off the kids, luggage and husband @ the airport - they checked in using the skycap and I went to return the van... It took me almost 45 minutes. You have to use the North exit off the airport to Semoran blvd.... Good luck.

classicpooh- can you tell me what the northwest code is?
we are flying northwest.....is it better than the wmrt code?

thanks for your reply too!

ClassicPooh - thanks for that info! I am hoping to follow that same plan for Thrifty in December but I'll be sending DH for the rental car. I'm glad to know all went smoothly. How great that you were given the Town & Country. I would love to have an upgrade to the Grand Caravan but don't think I'd pay an extra $100 for it.

Also very happy to hear that the code worked with no problems, we are using that one also. Definitely a great rate. I can picture the agent asking how you got such a great rate..."why the Dis of course!" What would we do without these boards?!?

I was wondering if someone could PM the code that you used. We usually use Thrifty and are planning on going down mid September.
Do you book your rental cars on line or over the phone?

We fly to Orlando a LOT, and the Hertz and Thrifty shuttles are sitting out there 99 percent of the time, or else they arrive within a minute or two, even late at night. We've used Thrifty a couple of times, and even though I hate shuttles, I was impressed with their promptness.

We used the Thrifty shuttle last week at MCO. It was very quick and efficient. It took about 30 minutes to actually get all the paperwork done once at the Thrift off site facility but it was no big deal.

Cruisin'Kroezes -

Check your PM.

I used the code from Mousesavers, under the Thrifty link of rental cars. There was no problem. The agent was funny, she seemed really suprised with the rate and really wanted to charge us for the upgrade. It worked out well.

Thanks to all those who reassured me about using an offsite rental company - it was worth saving the $$$! Thanks again!
