How long does it take to get a passport?

Hurry up and get yours NOW even if you are tossing around the idea of traveling outside of the country in the next few years. There has been an announcement that the fees will be increasing by $30 soon - although they won't say exactly when

It varies. I received mine within two weeks. Give yourself at least two months just to be safe.

Same here. We got ours last year -first time applicants, and it took two weeks.

Did you pay to expedite? We need passports too and I need to decide whether we pay the extra to get it quicker. We will have about 2 months if I start the process now.

I got a new passport on the same day around 2 years ago. I had to make an appointment at the passport office in Philly, and pay an extra $60 (I think). I believe that there are only a few passport offices in the US that provide same-day service.

I was headed to the Bahamas on business, and my passport was expiring about 2 months after I was to return from the trip. I first thought that I would be OK, but a few days before the trip was told that I needed a passport that was valid at least 6 months after the end of my trip.

Obviously, better research on my part would have avoided this, but I was glad to find out that I could renew my passport on a moment's notice.

Well, we got ours done on March 6 and we are flying to Arizona on April 10, so while we don't NEED-NEED them I am hopeful that they will get here in time! It will just be so much easier to have them as ID for the kids...and since we will have them and next year will be our 15th anniversary, we're thinking of going to Ireland!

The website says ours are all "in process" except DS...but I may be getting his Social wrong, I need to check...
