how long does it take bags to get from MCO to your room?

We usually arrive in the mornings, head to the parks, and return in the evening with our bags there. This trip we're arriving in the evening (around 6:30.) What time should our bags get to our room? I'm was planning to pack PJ's and toiletries we may need in my carry on just in case, is that necessary? Do bags arrive within a couple hours after landing? If it's getting late and our bags still aren't at our hotel, can we request for bell service to hold them until the morning. I can't see us crashing any earlier than 10, but I don't want to stay up too late waiting for them since we're heading out early for the parks the next morning.

I think the time frame for bags to arrive to your hotel is 3 (or 4) hours after your flight lands. That means your bags should be in the room by 10.

I've seen a lot of questions from people asking about "late deliveries by ME" and "what if ME doesn't get us our bags when we need them?" I have one question for them (and you)... what would you do if the AIRLINE loses your bag? I think the odds are more on the airline not getting your bag to Orlando than ME messing up.

Even if ME is perfect, they can't deliver what the airlines don't give them. In other words, even if I'm arriving before noon, I'm going to have sleep clothes and toiletries in my carry on.

It's actually up to 3-4 hours after you check in to your resort, so add another 60-90 minutes and your bags should get to your room by about 10:30 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. If you pack all you need for the first night (which the PP noted is a good idea regardless) and that's later than you want your bags delivered, then you can ask the front desk to have bell services hold them and put out the Do Not Disturb sign on your room door. Then you can call for them in the morning and it usually takes just a few minutes for them to bring them for you.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not worried about ME getting the bags to the room, we've used the service several times before and think it is wonderful. I just wasn't sure how long it would take for bags to arrive. Sounds like we'll pack pj's and toiletries in our carry on!

Your carry-on should always (sorry ) contain: valuables, medications, travel documents, and whatever items you'll need for the first 24 hours at your destination... even if that destination is "home", especially during extreme weather seasons!

I always carry meds and valuables with me, but never much else besides a book or magazine. I hate lugging around a rolling suitcase, but will do it this trip for sure. I'll just make DH roll it around since he only ever takes his Ipod and makes me keep it in my purse when he's not using it

You could always pick up your own bags and bring them with you to ME, or perhaps the one or ones that you must have. Just don't put the ME tags on the ones your're going to pick up. It might take a few extra minutes, but at least you know you have what you need.

No, you don't. You're forgetting the airline might lose the luggage. You don't KNOW you'll have anything unless you carry it with you.

Yes I understand the only things guaranteed are death and taxes, but it doesn't happen often enough to worry about. If everyone thought like that no one would ever check a bag. I guess I have a lot more confidence in airlines than you do.
If I didn't I'd probably be driving.

My husband has flown 3 times and his luggage has been delayed twice. I realize that's above the statistical average, but it did happen. Fortunately, he always carries everything he needs for the first 24 hours with him, so it wasn't a big deal.

Every time that I've used DME my bags were in my room less than an hour after check in. I always put bathing suits, change of clothes and other necessities in my carry on bag.

I'll admit it's a gamble. The last time we flew to Disney, Delta "lost" (delayed) a bag going to Florida and coming home. That was one bag out of the three that we shipped, but if it had happened to have our toiletries/night clothes, we still would have been out of luck.

Actually it's kind of amazing as many bags get successfully delivered when they do. I will agree it's EXTREMELY rare for baggage to be permanently lost, but it's not as unusual to have a bag delayed.

Respectfully - 'my' list of what one should pack in one's carry-on FITS in a typical carry-on. If it doesn't, the packer is overpacking in that bag. There's NO reason to leave a single checked bag un-DME-tagged and go wait for it at the luggage carousel. That negates the convenience and "magic" OF having your luggage go directly from your home airport to your WDW resort room.

My carry-on is a bag (with wheels and a telescoping handle) which is designed to fit entirely under the seat in front of me. On my outbound trip it holds my meds, my 3-1-1 bag, a second pair of crocs, a complete change of clothes, a nightgown, and reading material - with room to spare. When my personal item is a cross-body bag (think the Buxton organizer sometimes on tv commercials), it, too, fits in this piece of luggage.
