How long does Crystal Palace take?

My DS is really hoping to go to the marshmellow roast with Chip in Dale at FW. Our dinner ressie at CP is at 6:10. I am wondering if we would be able to have time to eat dinner, ride the boat to FW, and then ride the bus to the campsite? I would hate to rush the dinner, and was just wondering if it was doable. I guess the roast starts at 8 until 8:40. My only other option would be to go on a night when we have dinner ressies at 1900 Park Fareat 6:15. Thanks.

I think you can make it if you check in early and ask for your check as soon as your drink order is taken. You will be rushed to get there but I think you will just make it :thumbsup2

Based on my experience in May, you are more likely to make it on your CP night than your 1900 Park Fare night. I would show up early to CP. They might be able to get you seated a little early which would really help. With CP how long it takes just depends on where the characters are in relation to where you get seated. They tell you to expect an hour and a half for character meals, but when we had lunch there in May we got seated very close to where the characters were visiting and we had seen all the characters and eaten in 40 minutes. We ate at CP in December and May and both times were seated close to our ADR time. We went to 1900 Park Fare in May, checked in around 20 -25 minutes early, and did not get seated until 45 minutes after our ADR time. Then, the characters took quite a while to get to where we were. We didn't get out of 1900 until 9:00 p.m. and I believe we had a 6:15 reservation too.

We checked in 25min early and were seated quickly. We were in and out in around a hour or less but were seated close to the area where the characters started.

Character meals take about 90 mins.Sometimes less. But CP tends to be slower for some reaon

We always budget 2 hours for CP (from the time you check in 10-20 mins before your ADR until you leave), and we've never gone during free dining. I wouldn't count on checking in early in order to make the schedule work -- it's more likely you'll be seated after the time for your ADR. I would allow the same amount of time (or more) for 1900 PF. Then there's the 1 hr transportation time you have to allow after that.

Sorry, I just don't think either one is doable, if you want to be sure to make it in time for marshmallows. :confused3

Yeah, I don't think it will be doable either. I feel bad since my DS has his heart set on it, but all our reservations interfer with it. We are eating at Garden Grill also, aren't Chip and Dale there too? Maybe I can tell him we will eat with them for dinner instead. Our party is a group on 9, so I doubt we will be able to be seated early. We are also going camping at the beginnning of August, so we can do lots of marshmelloes then. Maybe I can buy some of those huge ones and write a note on them about how Chip and Dale were sorry we missed them, but they sent him some of their special marshmellows instead.

It takes me 3 hours to do Crystal Palace, But then again it IS my favorite ride.;)

I do like the idea about writing on the giant marshmallows, I will steal that one.

We have tickets for MNSSHP on Oct. 18 and I am trying to decide what to do about dinner. My two thoughts were a late lunch or early dinner at CP or an early dinner at The Wave. We are two adults and generally do not eat at the buffets (except for Boma!), but I've read some positive things about CP and the characters might be fun. The Wave , on the other hand, sounds like our type of restaurant and thought that if we got a 5:00 ADR we could just walk over to the MK after dinner and still have plenty of time for the party. What are the pros and cons of each?
Sorry, I meant for this to be a new thread. Didn't mean to hijack.

Yes, they are there also and are great. Just looking at this from a different perspective...if your son has his heart set on the campfire, why not take him there instead. If you don't mind skipping one meal as a group, it might be a fun thing to do with just the two of you. But if not, you seem to have other "magical" ideas in place. :)

CP is nothing special as far as food goes -- but not bad either. For example, the kids' menu choices are the same as at all the WDW CS restaurants, just maybe done a little better. The adult choices are basically meat, fish and veggies -- basic buffet fare. And it can be a long wait on crowded days because it's a must-do for many families with kids.

If the Wave sounds like something you would enjoy, you should go for that one -- with probably a shorter wait time, it's likely you'd be done dinner earlier even with the extra walk.
