How long do you think RnR will stay Aerosmith?

I'm not advocating to change it...in fact just the opposite. I keep wondering if they're going to get rid of the Aerosmith theme and use another more modern band. Aerosmith is no spring chicken, Steven Tyler is a senior citizen. I wonder if it could lose a connection with the younger generation.

I've been a huge Aerosmith fan for 30+ years, saw them in concert several times. RnR is unquestionably in my top 5 attractions in all of WDW, probably top 3. But a lot of it is because it's Aerosmith themed. If they changed it to a modern group, I think I'd still like the ride but be far less enthusiastic about it.

I can't imagine it would be all that difficult for them to leave the attraction almost completely as is, just use a different group. I sure as heck hope they don't, as I'll be severely disappointed. But it continues to be a popular attraction, so I'm keeping my hopes up that it'll stay Aerosmith for some time to come. Every time I visit WDW, I try to be sure to ride it just in case they do change it.

Being an Aerosmith fan myself, I too hope they never change it. It is true they are up there in age but they are still relevant in my book. They just put out a great album back in 2012 and was on tour just last year. It is one of my favorite rides at WDW and for me as well, a big part of that is because of the band. I did always think it was funny that they picked Aerosmith as the band for the theme since much of their lyrics have tongue in cheek references. Love in an elevator for example..."Good morning Mr. Tyler...going down?" lol.

Just got back from Disney in Sunday. My teens and young 20something still know Aerosmiths music and find them relevant. A lot of the teens these days are into 80s music. We all thouroughly enjoyed the ride several times and there were long lines waiting to get in it all the time.

Oldest ds 22 said Steven Tyler put on an amazing show at the Endymyion Mardi Grad extravaganza in New Orleans this year. He was very impressed with his performance.

I don't see it going anywhere for a while.

There have been rumors about a new Disney-owned IP theme for RnR for years now, including a Spider-man layover for the Paris version. No changes to either so far, but I expect it'll happen one day. Since RnR changes weren't announced as part of the DHS construction, it'll surely survive until after the 60th anniversary (and maybe long after).

I was wondering this lately too-- in the Shop Disney Parks App, they recently featured RnR items for sale in the parks (hats, shirts, etc). NONE of it said anything about Aerosmith or had their logo. Instead, it all features a new image of Rocker Mickey and other generic graphics. I thought it was curious and hoping it was not a sign of a slow fading away of Aerosmith!

It'll probably happen eventually, but not for a while. They won't touch it while Toy Story and SW expansions are still underway.

That's just because if they don't use the Aerosmith name and logo, they don't have to pay royalties and/or have the materials pre-approved by band management.

Aerosmith was "old" when the ride came out, I don't they they are getting any more or less out of date. While I don't put them quite in this same league, you can still slap The Beatles on something and it will sell and it was over 40 years ago John Lennon visited the Polynesian. No reason to think they are less of a draw than they were at the time. I do imagine though that the day will come though that the branding might be dropped. It does seem designed to easily remove all references to the band and keep it the Rock 'N Rollercoaster.

Wouldnt you think it would be the opposite though? Dont you think that Aerosmith probably is paying Disney for the Exposure? Just like old sponsors did at Epcot? I cant imagine Disney has been shelling out money to Aerosmith all these years. They wouldve went with more current band. They must have some type of deal worked out

This is my thinking. I don't think it'll be an update with a new band or group. I think that it'll likely be a re-theming of the ride to something totally different. Something Marvel based, etc is a pretty good guess in my opinion.
