How long do you think before AKV sells out?

So we just bought in for the first time last summer - we purchased 160 AKV points. I figure we'll have them paid off completely in about a year or so. I would eventually like to do an add on at our home resort - probably for another 40 points to get to the even 200 mark. BUT, I don't see us doing it for probably at least another two years or so maybe. Do you think AKV might be sold out by then? I'd like to do a subcontract so we can have the same UY. I know it's thinking far into the future and involves some speculation, but what do some of the experts think as far as AKV selling out time frame? Thanks!:wizard:

I think that it will take w while. It will end up being a fairly large resort. SSR is not yet sold out, but it is larger than AKV. I would say at least several years, somewhere between 2012 and 2013. Just my guess.

I agree. I should be available for awhile yet, and even so, smaller add-0ns are usually available at all DVC resorts even after they are "sold out".

Once completed, AKV will be the third largest of the DVC resorts. It will be a little smaller than OKW. What is currently completed (Jambo House) only represents a quarter of the total size of the resort.

Once the resort sells out, you will still be able to add on there. Disney will have points in inventory due to things like foreclosures and exercising ROFR on resales. You can add on points at any of the "sold out" resorts right now (OKW, BWV, etc.) even though those resorts sold out years ago so I don't expect AKV to be any different. There is also the option of picking up a resale contract. If you purchase the same UY and title it exactly the same way you can ask Disney to set it up as an add-on to your current AKV contract.

I have been lurking on these board and have also wondered how long it would take for this resort to sell out. We are very interested in becoming part of the dvc "family" and have wondered when you do add on, how long is the add on for? For instance if we sign the papers next week we would own for 49 years. If we decide to add some more points in years to come (hopefully at AK if it isn't sold out), what is the expiration dates of those points? We were informed of some new incentives and are even closer to making our decision. I am excited and scared at the same time!! :yay:

Don't you think there might be some good incentives the closer Contemporary gets to it's selling time?

AKV expires 1/31/2057 regardless of when you purchase.

I think it will take 4 to 6 years to sell out.

Why, GCV sales, KT sales, OKW sales and Hawaii sales are all going to impact AKV sales.

I agree that it could take that long. It could be quicker, however. I don't really see the impact of GCV and Hawaii. They will likely sell to a different market, primarily people in the western part of the U.S.

KT will have an impact, but the cost per point will likely be higher there, and I believe that KT will be very popular, but not as universally popular as many believe. AKV will still be more desirable to many potential DVC owners.

Just my humble opinion.

While this is true, but right now all those west coast buyers only have east coast options, and they are selling SSR and AKV in California. When GCV starts selling, for that year sales for SSR and AKV will drop off the chart in California.

Look at the impact AKV had with SSR sales. And lets not forget the new 2057 OKW contracts that are now being sold.
