How long do you think I should plan for MGM with just me and five year old DD? Obviously we won't be doing ToT or Rock N' Roll Rollercoaster! :rotfl2:

I'm kinda hoping we can do it in half day, but don't want her to miss anything.

And would it be better to go in the morning or early afternoon?

We will be there early May, so I'm hoping for relatively low crowds.

We took a full day at MGM with our 5yo DD in early January. We were there as soon as the park opened and enjoyed a nice refreshing breakfast at the Anaheim fruit stand on Sunset Boulevard. She did ToT -- but wasn't too happy about it once the drops began. (we dropped about 4x) RnRC was a baby swap using FastPasses.

Great Movie Ride was enjoyable for her and so was the Backlot Tour. Don't forget about the Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney -- quite enjoyable for DD and so was Muppets 3D. She thoroughly enjoyed the Stars & Motor Cars Parade and quite enjoyed Fantasmic.

I wouldn't give MGM any less than a full day with a 5 yo. There is lots to see and do there for the young ones.

There's also the Beauty & the Beast stage show
You could probably do a 1/2 day if you decided ahead of time what you wanted to do. But I've found that time slips away rather quickly in any of the parks. We end up staying a full day in each of them

My youngest DD has been doing ToT since she was 4...but millionaire is fun..my kids love it, Indiana Jones, the honey i shrunk the kids playground, great movie ride, mermaid, beauty and the beast, the parade, Fantasmic

We just got back and last year and this year (my dd is now 5) we did it in a little over a half a day. Really the only things that we went to were the Beauty and the beast show, Playhouse Disney (a definite thing to hit, my dd LOVED IT) and Muppets 3D - however, the thing that took up the most time was standing in lines for autographs. That is pretty much all that my daughter wanted to do both times and around the big hat at the Studios the characters were always around!!!!!

My 4-year-old and I did slightly more than a half day at MGM in February. We were there at rope drop and did Star Tours, Muppetvision, Playhouse Disney, The Little Mermaid ... poked around a bit and went back to the Dolphin at 11:00 am for lunch and a nap. Returned to MGM for the parade and then Fantasmic Dinner Package, did Beauty and the Beast and the Great Movie Ride between dinner and Fantasmic. Afterward we spent about half an hour looking in the shops. Indiana Jones was closed that day because of a dance competition but that and the I Shrunk the Kids playground - and that was on purpose, I didn't want to go in there - were the only things (I think!) we missed on our to do list.

Have fun!

My DD6 and I had 1 day for MGM and it just was not enough for us! We did do multiple rides on RNR, but she loved that ride! There were a few things we did not get to :( I will be sure to plan more time next visit!

Wow! Really?! I wouldn't even have thought of taking 5 year old DD. Took my seven year old niece on it and while the drops didn't bother her, she HATED the beginning ride part and the room with the TV playing the Twilight Zone show.

I'm really bummed to miss Rock N' Rollercoaster, that is my favorite ride, but I don't have an another adult to trade off with. I did go five times last time though so I guess that will have to hold me over!

Hi!

A little more than a half day at Disney-MGM Studios should be more than ample - there are lots of great things, but be sure not to miss Little Mermaid, MuppetVision 4D, Beauty and the Beast Stage Show, and the Bear in the Blue House. Kids also like to climb around in the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" playground (be sure to put a hand in the dog's nose - he sniffs you! Have fun! :bounce:

You could probably do it in 1/2 day but I think you could spend a whole day there with a 5 year old. There's lots to see and do :)
