How long do you sleep for?

6 hours; with or without an alarm. I may turn in earlier sometimes to read, but I'm dead asleep at midnight and awake at 6:00 am. It's not really enough, so I also build nap-time into every free weekend and can easily sleep deeply for two or three hours, when I have the chance. I entrench sleep habits very quickly so jet-lag hits me hard. I spent a week on the east coast recently and it's taken me forever to readjust to my home time zone, which is three hours earlier.

7 1/2 seems to be pretty good for me. The cats have been waking me up at 5:00 lately, so I'm trying to be asleep by 9:30.

Bed at 10pm/11pm and wake at 12:30am/1:00am. Go on computer then out for a 15 to 30 mile bicycle ride. Back on computer, eat and another snooze till 5am and up for the day.

All my life I was strictly an eight hour sleeper. Then maybe ten years ago now, I suddenly became a 7 hour sleeper. I also was never someone who made up for lost sleep with an extended period of sleep later on. I just slept my normal amount the next night and that was that.

As long as possible. I feel my best at around 9-10 hours. I don’t function well at 7 or less. I get a little sluggish with more than 12.

I evacuated from Orlando to the north Georgia border on Monday. The drive was almost 12 hours (four hours longer than normal due to weather and traffic) and I had two hours of sleep the night before because of doing hurricane prep at the house. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to finish the drive. I am going home tomorrow and I am going to bed at 6:30 with an alarm set for 5:30 in the morning. I’m hoping I am well rested for this drive.
Safe travels and I hope your neighborhood wasn't hit too hard.

I usually get between 5 and 6 hours of sleep but I don't sleep straight through; I wake up at least 2 or 3 times. Consequently, I'm always tired but I just can't stay asleep. Some nights, when I'm really tired, I'll fall asleep on the couch around 9pm. DH knows not to wake me when he goes to bed around midnight; if he does, I probably won't go back to sleep. It's crazy some days.
