How long do you break for naps?

Everyone whom stays onsite recommends going back and taking breaks/naps in the afternoon when the parks get crowded. :crowded: We have done this before ourselves and find it to work really well. My question is ... how long of a break do you take? Do you plan on like a 2 hour nap and 1 hour travel back and forth to the parks, or do you just quit for the day and go into early entrance the next day?

we take no naps but a longish sit down lunch instead..go off season so no crowds or heat...we also usually do ee for each park at least one trip

We've gone back to the resort for about 2-3 hours, get naps then back out. We've also gone all day with no naps. We play it by ear depending on how the kids are, how we feel, etc

We take a long break. I'd say a good 4-5 hours all told. We break at lunch usually. We go have a nice meal, go back to our resort, swim, nap, shower & dress for dinner. Then we either go to a Park & have some dinner & do more Park time, or go to dinner then to a Park. The exception to this is if we are having an event type of dinner. Then we might have a smaller CS lunch & stay in the Park til 2, then quit for the day.

We have been so many times that we are no longer remotely commando. We enjoy a more relaxing vacation than we used to do.

We've never done the resort nap, break thing. We usually just took a long lunch and plenty of breaks in the parks.

I dont do it often, but when I was down with my 2 yr old nephew this june we went back and let him sleep for like 3 hours or so...or should I say try and get him to sleep :rotfl:

We normally go in the slower months that have the parks closing earlier so we limit our nap time to 2 to 3 hours away from the parks. That normally gives us 1 to 2 hours for a nap, with the other hour being eaten up in travel time and freshening up.

(I am the queen of the power nap! Give me 10 minutes and I'm good for another 6 to 8 hours of park hopping!)

Our first time in April of 2004 was when we got married. DW needed to take a nap for about 2 hours. She was not feeling well. But if you are going when you know it will be crowded, go first thing in the am and leave (if at MK) about 11 or 12. Take a nap and return at 3 or 4 and it should be less crowded.

We were just there in May and we did a break everyday. We would leave one park and go to the resort and hit the pool, relax in the room or even just explore our resort some. We stayed at POFQ so we would take a boat ride to DTD and shop some. Really whatever we felt like each day. We had our DM with us and she's in her 50's. So she would head back to the resort for a nap while we would just do whatever came our way! Hope that helps!

In the past we haven't taken a break...BUT December was our first onsite stay. We have two older girls and a toddler. This October we'll be staying onsite again. After much thought, I think its probably necessary that we go back and let DD2 sleep in the room. She's very good at sleeping in the stroller for quite awhile but I know if she sleeps at home in the stroller or carseat she never seems quite as refreshed. I imagine she won't sleep as long(she's not much of a sleeper anyway) as at home, so I'm guessing the total away time from the parks to be 2-3 hours...maybe 4 on days when we decide to hang around the resort longer. This will be a longer stay for us, as we normally only have 4 day hoppers...this time we have 7 day hoppers. With a 2 yo I have no doubt we'll HAVE to slow it down a bit and let her lead us all. :flower:

On our last family trip (Nov. '03), we had a 4 & 1/2 yr. old and a 18 mo. old with us. Both were good nappers at the time ... in fact, are still good about lying down in the
afternoon if they know we've got "fun" stuff to do later in the day. On that last trip, we'd often spend 2-3 hours back at the Poly for a nap. Now that the girls will be a little older on the next trip (6 1/2 & 3 1/2), we are hoping to cut down a little on the napping. They may be able to make a full day once or twice, but we know it will be an early night on those days. Definitely planning a nap on the day we have tickets for MVMCP.

I been taking DD since she was 7 yrs old and she is now 15. We always take an afternoon break usually about 3 to 4 hours. One rule I've had is DD has to at least lay down and rest for an hour before she swims usually try to allow her an hour to swim.

DH and I rest too and often nap that hour and have taken turns on who got up and went to the pool with DD when she was younger so the other could rest longer.

Even when we go off season still take the same afternoon breaks and do Epcot in the evenings if the other parks close early so we out just about as late most evenings as we would be when the park is busy.

DH and I need that break in the afternoon DD usually doesn't sleep the 1st couple of days but by the 3rd day she sleeps during nap time sometimes we even have to wake her up.

My Dh and I have always gone back to the hotel (10 years) for mid-afternoon rest periods. We go down to the poool for about 4 hours. We either swim or nap in the sun (we love the Sun) and eat lunch at the resort. Much move relaxing :cloud9: :crowded:
