I'm thinking of having a candy buffet at my DD's graduation party (learned about it here on the DIS!). I noticed that Michael's Store has the premium M&Ms that you can buy in single colors. I was thinking of getting a bag each week with my 40% off Michael's coupon. Is it too early to buy them now for June 5??

Thanks,
Maggie

They only last 5 minutes around me ... 'cause I eat the whole bag!

Check the expiration date. I am sure you'll be fine to start stocking up now.

And I had a friend who brought some to work after they had been in the freezer for almost a year. They tasted fine to me!

I'm snacking on a bag of M&Ms right now and the expiration date is February 2011.

I think you'll be fine if you start stocking up now. Like the PP poster suggested, just check the expiration date before you purchase and you'll be fine. ;)

Keep them in the freezer and they can keep forever...well maybe not that long but you know what I mean. We did the same thing for our wedding a couple of years ago and started stockpiling them to put into shot glasses for our wedding favors, they were just as fresh as if we bought them that day...plus we had a ton left over and putting those in a cool dry place kept them pretty good for a long time afterwards. So I think if you start buying now, and keep them in the freezer you should be good to go!

How much are they on sale for? I'm having a candy buffet for my DD's 16th birthday in April. Blue, Brown and WHite are her colors ( her choice). I already picked up some York pieces and Almond Joy pieces. Always looking for good candy on the cheap lol

What DW said. :thumbsup2 I'm eating some now as I type. Still taste good to me. And that was over 2 years ago.

They aren't on sale. But I wanted to start buying them with the 40% off coupon each week. By June 5, I should have enough.

Do you want their school colors? I bet after Easter you could find them on clearance if you aren't picky about the colors!

You might want to wait until after Easter and get the pastels for 50% off after the holiday. That's what I do. Christmas M&M's I buy after and then split the bags by colors. Red (use them for Valentines Day) and green (St. Patrick's Day). I bake or do goody bags with them.
My friend is having a baby shower for her sister in a few months so we all went shopping after Valentines Day and bought up ever choc. that was wrapped in pink. At 50% off...:cool1:
