How Long Did It Take To Get Your Passport? Poll

Well I finally got my passport taken care of, all it took was a 2 day drive from Labrador to Ottawa to get it done in person.

I sent my first passport out in January hoping to get it back in late April for my trip out to California but because of the time delays and talking to a few people who never got there’s till 3 months time I couldn’t take the chance. So instead of having to deal with the worry of if I was goen to get it in time I did up a second passport, got another birth certificate and headed to Ottawa. (Ottawa cause I got an uncle there I can stay with)

It’s a good thing I did get it done in person cause I made a bunch of mistakes on my second one that I did exactly on my first one which I thought for sure I checked and double checked before sending it out.

I know for sure that if I just waited the 3 months to get my first passport they would have sent it back listing the pile of mistakes. I would have missed my trip trying to fix and send the stupid thing back.

The line up wasn’t too bad, only 3 hours and I explained to them I had one already sent in January. So everything is all fixed up and they told me the absolute latest I should get it is April 10th, which is perfect seeing how I leave 26th. :thumbsup2

It’s soo much better to get in done in person cause it relieves soo much stress of wondering if your going to get it in time and they fix your mistakes right away and they give you an actual date when its going to be ready.

Good Luck to those also seeking a passport by mail, hope nobody else had to go through the same troubles as I have.:sad2:

Our family applied for passports in two batches, both by courier: two January 22, one on February 20. The February one arrived yesterday :thumbsup2 , processed March 7th in Scarborough. No sign of the ones applied for in January :confused3 .

Hope continues!:cool1: My credit card was charged by Passport Canada on March 5th (sent in Passport applications on January 4th). With reviewing previous postings, I expect that my passports should arrive by March 21st at the latest (trip is April 5th). Again, I don't need the passports, but, was more worried @ the birth certificates.

THEY ARRIVED TODAY!!!! :thumbsup2 All 4 passports. Issued on March 9th, received on March 16th. Good luck to all. 21 sleeps before we leave.

We got ours back in the mail today! One less holiday detail to worry about.
I filled out the forms for hubby & myself online and I filled out the kids forms from the post office. We took them in to Regina, SK on Feb. 21. We were in and out of the passport office in under 25 min.

Anybody been to the Kitchener passport office recently? How is the wait and turn-around time now? Dh's passport expires in May and wants to get it done now.

We are still waiting for DD's passport that was sent Express-post Jan 16. Now have the MPP's office involved and they seem to also be getting the runaround! Absurd if you ask me...:confused3

anybody tried the 800 number lately. Is it just me or is it completely impossible to get. :headache:

we sent our passport applications from a service centre in Sydney, NS on Jan 29th. We received one of them March 13th, another March 15th and only have one more to get. I am hoping it will be the first of the week at the latest.

However, I was reading in the newspaper today (cape breton post) that up until the spring breaks are over US customs are letting people through (by air) without a passport but I think you have to have proof that you gave applied for one.

This 1-800 number is driving me crazy!!! I keep calling and calling and getting the same response..."Thank you for calling the ...blah, blah, blah!!!"

For the 1-800 number. When you get through and get the recording..,Press 0 and that should put you in line. See if this works.

Are you referring to a HRDC office? I am wondering of you did like us. We filled out the application, went to a HRDC office locally(western Newfoundland). The guy working there checked it over, took our payment and then gave us a receipt and said it would be sent away for processing. That was back on January 26. I called today to the 1-800 number, the lady said it hasn't been started yet. We travel end of April. Is that similar to the process you went through?

Brooker: That is the exact thing I did here in NS. I dropped my DS11's application off at Service Canada (HRDC), they checked it, I paid for it and got the receipt and tracking number. I visited the Service Canada office on January 16th and received it on Wednesday (Mar 14). When I dropped it off, they said I should have it 'by the end of February'. We are also travelling late April.

Hopefully we'll get our DS9's by the end of this month. Its nothing worse than waiting on something as important as this after investing so much money. We have ours already, and we weren't planning on a Disney trip this year, so we felt we had no need for our sons....but here we are patiently waiting. We still have 6 weeks....but it is still drives you nuts waiting.

When I got though and pressed 0 the same syupid recording came on " Thank you for calling passport canada...blah blah blah but all of our agents are currently busy and we have reached the max. waiting please call again!"

:scared:

You have to keep trying over and over....it usually takes me 10-15 minutes of constant redialing and then when I get in the quene another 20-40 min wait.

WooHoo I finally got though to the second stage where I get to stay on the line to wait...and I assume wait and wait and wait!! :) Oh well at least I got though :woohoo:

Still on hold....:headache: I am going a little crazy sitting and waiting....:rotfl2:  (That's me the dancing banana.... :lmao: :rotfl2: )

lol....finally after 72 minutes of being on hold I got a hold of someone and it was confirmed that it'll be in the mail Monday :) I am very happy about that!!
