arrive to your room using ME? Also, how did you tip if you were not in the room? We are going to DTD after check in and staying most of the day, so I'm assuming we will not be in the room when the bags come.

It took our bags less than 6 hours to get to our room on arrival. I wish I could be more specific, but right after we checked in we dropped off our carry on's on our room and headed of to MK then Chef Mickey's of a dinner PS. We checked in at around 3pm and returned to our room just after 9pm. We went prepared to go to MK immediately after arrival so we didn't need to change and camere's were carried on.

I went in June and it took about 3 hrs to get our bags. You don't have to tip because I believe the dropping off part is taken care of.

I just returned from a magical trip at the YC last week in August. (Surprisingly, it wasn't that hot! Must have been the effects of the hurricane) Anyway, we arrived at 11:15 at our hotel, we scoped out the area, had lunch, returned to the room, and our bags were there. It was around 1:30 p.m.

Do you think it takes less time to get the bags in the room if you arrive in the evening when it's (presumably) less busy than the middle of the day? Our plane arrives at MCO at 7.35pm and we hope to be at our resort by 8.30pm or so. Since it will be getting late (and we have two little children) I am planning on packing pj's and a change of clothes plus toiletries in our carry-ons in case our luggage isn't delivered by 10pm. I think after that, we'll be so tired, we'll want to crawl into bed.

Anyway, just looking for an opinion. Thanks.

If you don't want to carry that much stuff in your carry-ons, my travel agent told me that it is not necessary to check all your bags to the ME. If you want to pack a smaller suitcase with the p.j.s and toiletries and stuff, you just don't put an ME tag on it and check it the way you usually would. When you arrive to Florida, you then go to baggage claim (like you would without ME) and get your bag. Then you can go get on the ME to your hotel. This way, you have your stuff without making your carry on too heavy and then you have an extra suitcase to bring home all your souveniers in :Pinkbounc .

It took us about three hours to get our bags. In all the trips to Disney I have made they have never delivered our bags to our room if we weren't there. We had to call for them. I was told that they do not deliver to your room if you aren't there for liability issues.

I knew that it would take time to get the bags so I packed a pilots case that I carried onto ME myself with essentials and swim suits for the kids. I knew they would want to swim right away so I always take a carry on with a change of clothes and swim suits.

If you are using Magical Express they will definitely deliver to your room if you are not there. I went straight to Epcot after checking in and my bags were in my room when I got back.

DME will deliver even if you're not in the room and the tip is included.

Most of us don't know how long it takes. I checked in at 11:00, was at the pool at AKL by 11:30, had lunch, swam and had a cocktail. My luggage was in the room when I got back.

Most guests go to a restaurant, pool or park and don't know exactly how long the luggage delivery takes.

If your luggage isn't delivered before go to bed and you can call and ask them to hold your luggage until morning.

We went in Aug. Arrived at the hotel at 11:45AM, room was ready. We dropped off our carryons in the room, and went to the food court, and while having lunch, we remarked on the big cart of ME luggage that went by. Returned to our room by 1PM and suitcases already there. :cool1:

Yes, the tipping for delivering to your room is part of the ME package, so you don't need to worry. I did notice that upon our return to the airport, it looked like DSis and I were the only ones who tipped the driver as he unloaded all that luggage for people onto the sidewalk. And they didn't tip before we left the resort. I felt kinda bad for him because there were some families that had a ton of stuff. I guess I'm grateful for these boards because I asked here before I went.

Three weeks ago ours arrived 40 minutes after we did. We were walking to the pool and saw our luggage going to our room. This was at 3:00 in the afternoon. When we returned it was waiting for us in our room, no problems and would definately use ME again!

When we used DME in mid-June, we checked into BCV around 1ish, got into our villa at 2:30 and our bags arrived at 3:00. We completely forgot that the tip was already included and dh tipped the kid who delivered the bags.
As far as tipping the driver, I don't tip if he hasn't handled my bags. If I have just carry-on, as I did in June, than that goes on the bus with me. But, if I have baggage that is going to go under the bus because I am flying a non-participating airline, then I will tip the driver $5. When we were at Pop in August it amazed me to see how many people just grabbed their bags and went on their way, with nothing for the driver..not even a thank-you. That driver does a fair amount of work pulling those bags out.
I always have a carry-on bag with me...both for anything I may need at the airport and in flight, but also for when I get to my resort. I hate having to rummage through my big bags that I leave with Bell Services to grab a bathing suit, so I now carry that with me.

If the driver doesn't handle my bags, then No, I don't tip. But if he/she is putting stuff under the bus and then retrieving it, I would tip at least $1/bag. JMHO.
