some people have said that it only lasts half an hour but others have said a couple of hours.
for those who have had an intimate, how long did yours last?
(we're having WP ceremony, GF reception)

thanks in advance :)

We are in process of planning intimate wedding..I was told they last approx 1 1/2 hours.

Our intimate wedding reception lasted a little over an hour. A big part of that was because during our reception, my DW and I had cake cutting pictures in our outfits, then changed into traditional Korean Wedding outfits for more cake cutting pictures, and back into our original attire again.

just read your other post, congrats on your wedding, hope you'll post a wedding trip report soon! dont forget to show us your photos!

I don't think ours lasted more than 20 minutes, I'd even say 15 minutes. We had our wedding the Yacht Club Gazebo at 11 am and at 11:35 we were sitting in the lounge at the YC. But, I think maybe the wedding started before 11, I have no idea though since I was watchless.

how many people were at yours? or was it just you and your groom?
there'll be 9 including us at ours, so was hoping for it to last a bit longer, as we have 3 hours to fill between the ceremony time and our PS for dinner

Including DH and I, there were 14 people. It really went a lot quicker than I thought it would

That short??

Blimey - my parents are stumping up for the ceremony and I'm hoping their thousand pounds is worth a bit more than a 15 minute ceremony and a 15 minute reception... might have been cheaper to stay home after all

hi rosie
slightly off topic here (sorry everyone)are you staying at animal kingdom lodge and have booked ypour wedding package with virgin? i ask this because when i phoned them yesterday i am pretty sure they didn't list the AKL as one of the hotels that you have to pick for the wedding package :confused3 this is where we want to stay and have our wedding at sunset point :)

I think it depends on what you have got planned, we were married at the WP at 4pm (think it was a little later than this due to the limo guy going to pick up my hubby and going to the wrong hotel), the ceremony is very quick but we added a rose ceremony so it extended it, we then had photos and our intimate reception was at the Terrace at the GF, cake cutting, bit of dancing, more photos. We had a lot of photos around the GF hotel purley because it was christmas and i wanted to include the festivities in my piccies.

So then stayed up on the terrace for a little while, because we were the last intimate wedding there was no rush to vacate from the GF, our table wasn't until 7pm at the California Grill.

You can prolong it if you want, but generaly peoples seem to be quite quick.

Hello uktigger - yup we booked our holiday through Virgin (we have 6 family members travelling with us so we're staying with them in a villa the first two weeks then into AKL for the last week) Then we booked our intimate ceremony through virgin too. So the ceremony and the hotel are seperate (where disney packages it all together).

We did it through Thomson rather than direct with virgin but it's all in the brochure - unless they've changed it! pm me if you want any more info :0)

Sorry for hijacking the thread everyone... :rolleyes1

Our reception was about 10 minutes max. It was threatening to rain. We were doing a mock cake cutting anyway because we wanted to have the cake at dinner. Our ceremony was 15 minutes long according the vidoe that my wonderful brother did for us and then the reception was over super fast. But there were drops of rain so if that had not happened it probably would have lasted al ittle bit longer. When the springles came Randy grabbed us and said let's go get pictures which is what we did for the next hour or so.

ETA: I've thought about it and the big reason ours was so short was because we weren't cutting cake for everyone. And the threat of rain. We also did not do a first dance.

We were married at Sunset Pointe at 5pm and with the ceremony, the toasts, cake cutting, the dances( my Dh and I, and my dad and I), and some visiting we were leaving the spot at 6:45pm. We were blessed to have a really sunny day, with not a cloud in site.

I was married at the WP, with the intimate reception at the GF Commander Terrace. I don't think Disney actually wants the intimates to be that long. They actually call it a cake-cutting ceremony. I don't think it is really a reception. Ours was about 1/2 hr. Long enough for the toast, cutting the cake and our first dance. After that Disney starts packaging up your cake and kinda makes you feel like it is time to go. I don't think you could stretch it out to 3 hours.

We're having our intimate at the wedding pavilion. Our WP has told me that the ceremony AND the reception should be about 90 minutes long.
Hope that helps :flower:

I think we spent about an hour with the cake cutting, dance and photo's before we left SBP and returned to the Boardwalk Inn and then off to Yacht Club for dinner.

My reception/cake cutting at the Grand Floridian after my IVR at the WP was probably about an hour. We had the toast, the cake cutting, dancing (the violinist was there and would play and Disney song requested - he was great), we also had Mickey and Minnie there and we took lots of pictures! We did not feel rushed at all. We had a total of 14 people including the wedding couple. I think our was on the longer side since we had characters, also the violinst did not stay the entire time.
